Al Horford - Hall of Fame?

Yup, too early, but I think he will make it.

Casual fans will just look at his career averages (14-15ppg, 9rpg, 3apg, 1.3bpg) and automatically dismiss him.
They might even dismiss his 4 all-star appearances.

You cannot dismiss that this man is a winner and makes teams better.

Take a look at Atlanta's record for the previous 4 years before Horford was drafted:

Year Record Playoffs
2003–04 28-54 Missed
2004–05 13-69 Missed
2005–06 26-56 Missed
2006–07 30-52 Missed

Now take a look at Atlanta's record after Horford was drafted:

Year Record Playoffs
2007–08 37-45 Made
2008–09 47-35 Made
2009–10 53-29 Made
2010–11 44-38 Made
2011–12 40-26 Made
2012–13 44-38 Made
2013–14 38-44 Made
2014–15 60-22 Made
2015–16 48-34 Made
2016–17 43-39 Made

Those are some huge win increases in comparison. Coincidence? No.

I'm am not an advanced stats person, but i'm sure someone can find some sort of advanced stats for him to prove my point.

Also, since the HOF counts college as well, his 2 NCAA championships will be taken into account. He was the most important player on those Florida teams.

People talk about how a player like DeMarcus Cousins is the best center in the NBA. Go ahead and plug DeMarcus Cousins on the 60 win Atlanta team and see what happens. Go ahead and plug DeMarcus Cousins on this year's Celtic team and see what happens. I know those teams weren't designed with Cousins in mind, but seriously, you can't tell me that "the best Center in the NBA, aka DeMarcus Cousins" as most people seem to think, will lead a team like Horford.

DeMarcus cousins is a great one-on-one player and a stat producer. That is unquestionable. He is not a winner. His personality is detrimental to the team. This all counts in Basketball and when comparing how one player is better than another. Better in terms of WINNING which is most important.

This is not a shot against Cousins, which is a great player. I'm just using him to prove my point for Horford, a quiet, humble winner who can easily go unnoticed.

I don't think he'll win a championship in the NBA, and I don't think he needs to. I think 3 or 4 more seasons at his current pace and it's good enough for him to get in the HOF.

Mind you, if DeMarcus Cousins continues at his pace, 24ppg, 10rbp, and mediocre teams and wins, he will probably still make it to the HOF. Why? Cause his stats are easily noticeable. I'm glad we're getting into a more "advanced stats" era because you can't see true value with the regular stats that pop out. It doesn't help Horford's case that he's one of the most quiet, easy to miss guys in the NBA.

Half the teams in the league make the playoffs. While the HoF bar is pretty low, its not that low. Doesn't mean he isn't a really good player. But he isn't a HoFer.

Has him at 4%. Not looking good...

Isn't Hall of Fame for all of Basketball? His two titles in College probably help him if he can have a few more good years in the NBA.

If he gets in, it'll be because of that.

BBR has a HOF tracker that currently has his chances at 4.2% based on his NBA accomplishments.

Much easier when everyone is focusing on IT , and he will fade away against LeBron , don't worry

I don't even like the max for Horford, imagine give him a HoF spot. I don't get exactly why you're comparing him do DMC. It's because some say he is the best C in the NBA? If so, do you believe Horford is the best C?

What will happen if you plug DMC in the Celtics? They probably improve their rebounding by a ton. Maybe the interior defense as well. And they also blow in technicals and might loose a lot of chemistry and get locker room issues. But hey, none is getting my HoF vote right now.
I think there are better cases for HoF going on right now than Horford. But he might get in, who knows.

Its not impressive. Throughout his career the Hawks made the playoffs with 37, 38, and 40 wins and were never a legitimate threat in the postseason.

If i were starting a team to get as far as possible right now and I had to pick a Center to fit with the rest of the team, I would probably pick M. Gasol (1a) and Horford (1b). I don't think any other Center can take my team as far right now. There are some good young Centers but they are not there yet.

No, just no...He has consistently performed subpar in the playoffs...Has kept Atlanta on a treadmill other than that 60 win season, in which they got destroyed by the Cavs...He is a bad rebounder and even on Boston teams have been punishing them inside...These reactions threads to a couple of good performances are hiliarious and if the Cs beat the Wiz...We will revisit this thread at the end of the series and get a kick out of it

Other than the Celtics with 3 HOF players that one year in that time period, what team would you have considered a legitimate threat in the east to take out any Lebron lead team?

Those win totals should be compared to what Atlanta's win totals were WITHOUT Horford. Huge improvement. He's not Lebron, a guy that can give you like 45 extra wins just by himself.
