Could the Cavs have kept Wiggins in 2014 and signed Love as UFA in 2015?

In an absolutely hypothetical scenario the cavs roster ends up like this
5 - bron 4 - Paul george 3 - wiggins 2 - jr 1 - kyrie but who would have anticipated durant signing with the dubs...

Anyway to stay on topic imp it would have been more difficult to sway love to the cavs.
Regarding wiggins, he would have thrived on d with the cavs simply cause that's what would have been expected of him.

On the wolves he isnt expected to play d cause they arent expected to win games. Theyre just an nba team

If he is your #4 option youre looking at a guy that gets you 10 points on 8 shots probably. He also wont bring any rebounding or facilitating and he would be the worst defensive player in the rotation. Rondae Hollis Jefferson or Justise Winslow are a much better fit if youre looking for a young wing to be on this Cavs team with their elite defense.

But can he look worse then JR Smith?

Cavaliers won a title. They made the correct move.

No one saw what GS did coming, and Wiggins (although long and athletic) wouldn't have made the difference when you subtract our Love.

Cavaliers need to find another move to close the gap. Most likely they aren't going to be able to do that though. Warriors are probably winning the next couple.

Three years later & Wiggins still looks to me like a guy who is a couple years away from being able to give you serious/positive minutes in the post season - let alone a Finals series against the current Warriors.

Frankly, I'm a little concerned that Wiggins hasn't shown more growth already.

I chock that up to Sam Mitchell trying to use Wiggins like a poor man's #8 Kobe Bryant. He will be back on track next year.

Ya JR is a better defender and far superior 3pt shooter.

I am still thinking...if Bennett is playing along the side of LeBron...will he be a more useful player?...

I mean, situations can really impact a player's development.

Darko wasn't that bad a player...he was on a team full of veteran bigs on the Pistons and you sure know Larry Brown will sit Darko. D-League exists the first year that Darko is ineligible.

If Darko was with the Spurs...don't you think it will make a big difference?

Wiggins was being touted as the next Lebron and Jabari Parker was supposed to be the next Carmelo. Of course it looks silly now, but those two were supposed to take the league by storm.

No because Love was not comin. His final destination was not Cleveland. No way was he going to a wasteland where no one's ever won anything. He was NOT going to be a Cavalier. But that trade solidified his position of where he ultimately wanted in the NBA. He won the chip in the unlikeliest of places. They would have gone back to back if it wasn't for you know who, and I am thoroughly convinced of that. And Love to the Cavaliers, and Championship, would not have happened any other way. As it stands, now everyone wants to dump The K Love.

Dunno if Wiggins was ever projected to be a Lebron type. I heard anybody from Rudy Gay to Vince Carter, but not bron. Their games and physicality are totally different.
