That value is even a little high given the situation. Lakers probably force them to take Deng or Mozgove if they want Randle/Clarkson

Yep.

Randle/Deng
or
Clarkson/Mozgov

Take your pick lol.

Wouldn't the Lakers have to move Deng or Mozgov to free up cap space anyway?

So if he waits then the Lakers are forced to move a future asset to convince a team to help them.

I feel bad for the Pacers and they really should do what is best for their team but there is a part of me that would refuse to trade him to LA just out of spite. Wouldn't that cost PG one year on that next contract if he was forced to sign as a FA than if he was being retained with Bird rights?

Or, I could be complete wrong, too, lol. Going off the cuff and didn't even look at the payroll because I'm too lazy to look anything up; you're welcome.

Cavs wouldn't have space after, payroll is too high

I'm not even bothered like I thought I would be, actually. The year he broke his leg we missed the playoffs by 1 game. The 2 years since, we've made the playoffs by like 1 or 2 games. This isn't Lebron leaving Cleveland.

I'm glad it will be over soon however. Guessing by draft night he's moved. If not, I would genuinely debate telling him to sit out the year and just pay him. If nobody offers anything worth anything, what's the loss?

Prefers Lakers, but would he stay with the Clippers if they traded for him? Clippers don't have good assets, but if this is certain, the Clippers need to start trying to figure out how to make that work.

This has to be Paul or his agent. Indy wouldn't let this out.
Even for them, why would they do that? It actually makes it harder to trade him, not easier because Indiana loses leverage and then trading becomes a chore. Seems like it would be better to tell them in secret instead. The only idea I can think is that they want them to lose leverage so that the Lakers don't trade a lot of assets to get him because he wants to join the Lakers with them being as strong as possible as opposed to weakened from trading for him.

It becomes a chore, but you have to do chores.

The hope for George is this makes Indy take a bad deal from LAL for him (better than nothing) and he could sign max extension with the lakers next season.

Lol at not offering Randle/Clarkson they both are mediocre. If Indy will accept Randle/Clarkson/#28 for George Lakers should take it and run. It's better than paying teams to take Deng or Mozgov or stretching them and having that money on the books for years.

Yes you're right, but Randle and Clarkson have pretty decent value, I think enough to add Deng or Mozgov in. Maybe Lakers give them a 2nd rounder as well.

Perfect way for him to lower his trade value enough that the Cavs can trade for him. 8-)

If they trade him now, the only real candidates are "win now" teams who would only want him for the year. Wouldn't it be dumb for the Lakers to trade for him when they can just get him in FA next year? - not like they will win next year w/ him and even less talent than they currently have, so might as well keep tanking and developing their young guys. Clippers getting him may be interesting though - do they have anything worth offering Indiana? Don't laugh, but what about Austin Rivers? ;)...

It still would be nice if Cleveland could figure out a way to get him.

Oh - and I guess that "I want to win a championship w/ Indiana" stuff he allegedly said the other day was just BS"?

Lakers could do it with a deal centered around D'Angelo Russell who'd be a good fit for Indiana. Have to package some guys along with him to balance out the trade dollars. lakers have 3rd pick + Ingram and Ennis already (could pick another PG depending on who falls to #3) and Clarkson could also play point and I don't think they've been too thrilled with Russell for the most part.

They better do something quick because I'm sure the Clips will try and make a push somehow. A team of Paul, Griffin and George would create another "superteam" in the West. This would probably be enough to keep CP3 in LA.
