Not sure if Lonzo will score alot of points this year, his shooting in SL has been below average. His passing is impressive, but this is against scrubs. I do think he will be a solid NBA player, not sure yet what his ceiling is. Lakers will be better in 2 years but for now there will be a learning curve and the players still have get used to one other. I can see them being another lottery team but just for this year.

Not to be an ass, but they have a better chance at having the worst record in the west than they do of making the playoffs. I have them in the bottom 2 of the west along with the Suns.

Baring major injuries I have the following teams making the playoffs:

GS
SA
HOU
OKC
UT
LAC
MIN
POR

I think that Minnesota replaces Memphis. New Orleans and Denver probably have a chance too to just sneak in.

I'd be shocked if they made the playoffs. I see them as a bottom 10 team easily with how stacked the West is and the fact that they will count on a rookie to lead them there(also losing their previous top 3 scorers- DLo, Lue, Swaggy)...
Good assessment:

Lonzo will be rookie of the year and the rest of our lineup is much better than last year. We got stronger at every position and got rid of the players who set bad examples and couldn't lead a team (Russell and Young).

G - Ball/Clarkson
G - Pope/Brewer
F - Ingram/Deng/Kuzma
F - Randle/Nance
C - Lopez/Zubac

Pretty good bench with guys who are due for a breakout year (Randle, Clarkson, Nance). At this point the top 6 teams in the West are GSW, SAS, HOU, MIN, OKC, and a tossup between NOP and DEN. The rest of the West is up for taking. I don't see how the Mavs, Suns, Blazers, Kings, or Clippers are better than the Lakers.

You really think the Lakers are better than the Clippers, Blazers, and Jazz? Utah was a 60 win team last season if they would of had a regular season instead of the 200+ games missed to injuries. I understand we lost Hayward, but we did get Mitchell to soften the loss a little. Add to that we should bounce back a lot health wise (what are the chances of another season that injury riddled?). I think Hill looked better with us than he actually is, Utah has always been PG friendly, and it will do the same for Rubio, and I actually prefer Rubio's skillset for the position. Exum is much better as well. I project Utah in the 50-55 win range this season. No way the Lakers come close to that.

They will make the playoffs and Ainge will regret trading that 3rd pick.

We'll see. I still say 9th or 10 is possible if Ball can play at a high level throughout the season.

I think Lakers will be ahead of Kings and Suns, that's it. In East however Lakers will fight for play-offs.

Again, 1%. Ball would need play like a MVP candidate from day 1 to make this team reach the 8th place on the West, obviously, no happening.

The Lakers clearly have a better roster than last year. If they don't win more games then last year that will be an indictment against Luke if anything.

Lopez and Caldwell Pope are both huge upgrades over Mozgov & Clarkson.

Lonzo at worst should be what Russell was last year while being a much better distributor and playmaker.

Ingram will only continue to develop and improve his game.

Yeah they probably aren't a playoff team, but they should at least be 5-10 games better then last year.

You need an all star to make a 10 win jump.

Lakers made a 9-game jump last year without anything close to an all star.

The switch from Byron to Luke helped and its easier to go from 17 to 26 than 26 to 35.

Laker fan, I don't want to say 0%. But it's hard not to. We won 26 games last year, love Lonzo, but we lost our top 3 scorers and 3 point shooters and currently have no shooting. Lopez will help, but I don't think Ingram's going to make enough of a jump to really impact our record.

Hope I'm wrong!

No they wouldnt. Theyd still be bottom 5 in the east.

I like Ball a lot but even if he plays like a star and Ingram jumps a level, a top 10 offense is still going to have trouble winning half its games with the defense projected to be very, very bad.

We are realistically looking at 30-35 wins max. No chance in hell we make the playoffs this year.

Well I guess it all depends if their is an earthquake in the allstar game and all the western starters get injured. Then one can see a way they might make it.

I'm a Celtics fan so I hope you're wrong. But I agree that you can make a 5-10 game leap if things work out. Especially considering you were actively tanking last year and have no incentive to do it again.

I think ya'll are underestimating these Lakers but we'll see. The talent is there so they just have to step it up night after night to get anywhere.
