My biggest takeaway from SL for the Lakers is Kuzma's shooting. I saw plenty of him in college and that jumper was very inconsistent to say the least. And every game I saw of him he was a pretty bad defender. Hes giving me a Luke Kennard vibe when I watch him playing D in SL where I find myself saying "Where the hell was this effort and intensity on D in college." So if he keeps up that intensity on D and that jumper does become consistent (has great form), Lakers got themselves one hell of a steal.

Wasn't Kuzma on the all-defense team for his conference?

I don't believe so. I know he was 1st team PAC-12. Don't believe he was on all defense. From what I saw he shouldn't have been either.

Only honorable mention. Just like Ball.

Got it. I never even heard of him before the draft. Pleasantly surprised.

The 2017 NBA Summer League was distractingly declassed. Ball was propping up his ceiling-as a summer league Starter. Dennis Jr. was manically dominating at his own choosing. But, most SL players should be begging groceries. Which has made a laughing stock, among
serious competitors.

OK, lets step away from Lonzo Ball here for a second. How can anyone watch what Bam Adabayo looked like in the Summer League
(video below), at 19 years old, without even being asked to play like this at all in college... and not think he has the potential to be special?

6'10" - 7'3" Wingspan - 38.5" Vert - Built like rookie Dwight Howard

Our full roster didn't play the Celtics. Our best player didn't play against the Celtics, so nope don't buy that.

What a load of crap.

Was 100% wrong about him. Thought he was rather limited, yet, he's shown to have a really extensive range of skills, perfectly suitable to develop into a modern power forward. Love it.

I'm embarrassed about some of my posts about Lonzo in the draft sub-forum from a few months ago.

I was dead wrong about him. Still have concerns about his offensive output, but I don't think it's anything he won't work and improve on.

I was so wrong. He's a gamechanger.

But I think I was right in saying DSJ would be the best player out of this draft class :D

That horrendous first game brought down Lonzo's stats quite a bit. Can't help but wonder if the pressure and the jitters did him in. After that game he's averaged.

32.5 mpg 18.6ppg 10.2apg 8.0rpg 2.6stl 1.0blks 42.6FG% 29 3FG%

I hope Lonzo sits out tonight if he's not healthy. I know everyone wants to see him but it ain't worth it. He's proven enough in Summer League.

Don't worry, you weren't alone. That appeared to be the consensus during his predraft evaluation. It seems that Kentucky really limited what he was able to showcase. I mean, he was playing with 2 other lottery picks so it's understandable... and speaks to his "team first" approach to be able to sacrifice his game like that to fit in.

That said... how high would Bam have been drafted if he went to a school where he was able to showcase himself better as possibly the #1 option?

Ball might legit be good enough to corral Lebron (with Paul George ofc). If Ingram makes a jump this summer, they start to look pretty attractive, especially with Clevelands dysfunctionality creeping back in.

In sl, you can legitimately question how any rookie will translate to the NBA. What will Zo do. Will Fox's speed be enough. Can Bam do it against bigger better players. But Lonzo does it with his brain and his passing, so I'm not worried smarts is smarts... Passing is passing

Bam played against 300-pound Karnowski .
