Probably will be something like Kanter and Abrines or McDermott for Melo.

Much better trade for New York than the Houston deal.

If I'm NYK I would do it for Kanter, Abrines, and a first round pick.

Lol - Kanter, similar to JV, is a dead contract. No need for big man like that on that type of salary. He doesn't fit with Krystaps.

Will likely be Adams if this deal happens.

Melo would waive his no trade clause for OKC?

I'd have to be all 3 of Kanter, Abrines and McDermott and it still sucks.

Hernangomez/Kanter/Noah
KP/O'Quinn/Thomas
Hardaway/McDermott/Kuz
Lee/Dotson
Frank/Baker/Randle

Adams/Collison
Melo/Patterson
George/Grant
Roberson/Huestis
Westbrook/Felton
Go Knicks!

Well if Melo is willing to waive his kicker, the Knicks could offload Lee's contract:

Kanter / Abrines / McDermott / Grant / Huestis / Christon
for
Melo / Lee

Works in the trade machine

Adams
Melo / Patterson / Collison
George / Singler
Roberson / Lee / Ferguson
Westbrook /Felton

If you add Singler going to NYK, you can get to Noah coming to OKC instead of Lee. Might be the Knicks best chance of moving some of their long term money and adding some young pieces.

I'll take, Knicks posturing for $500 Alex.

OKC is not letting go of Adams and the Knicks won't get a piece as good as Adams in a Melo deal.

Kanter can still play. And his deal is only for 2 years, so its the same length as Melo's.

They're not getting Adams for him. That's too much value.

Especially when their only alternative is Ryan Anderson.

Problem is Melo no trade clause.
He said it many time, he will waive for Houston and Cleveland.
OKC wasn't on the list.
I doubt he will waive it for Cleveland if Irving is gone.

They would be literally stupid to ask for Kanter and that garbage contract back for Melo. No way.

Didn't you read Simmons's tweet?

The guy who recruited him to Syracuse works for OKC and is selling him on playing there.

Maybe it doesn't convince him, but his mind could be changed.

Westbrook/George/Melo/Adams may be the 2nd best team in the league. Better than Houston would be with him.

I don't think it would be Kanter going back to NY because of the trend in centers, and I don't think Abrines would be moved - OKC likes him, and NY just signed Hardaway. But Adams does have value as a defender, you could throw in McDermott as a 3, and add a protected first.

OKC would be chancing it on defense - basically throwing away interior defense play. Or maybe they can convince NY to take Kanter back since that would be some salary shedding, have the future first unprotected (which would be unlikely to matter). If Kanter could ever learn to play even mediocre defense...

Bring him on I guess. OKC fan here but this player movement is too much. Maybe once we get Melo, we can get LeBron too.

Got to be for Donatas Sabonis and/or kanter. Someone who plays only for side of the floor.

Not necessarily. Kanter has a player option for next year, and that's it.

He's overpaid because of his lack of defense - but if he ever even became a mediocre defender he'd be worth what he's getting paid. Meanwhile, he'd reduce the Knicks payroll this year by a bit - and there's no long-term commitment - one more season.

If you sweetened it with a first and a McDermott or Abrines (Abrines being the better talent, McDermott similar and probably a better fit), it wouldn't be nearly as bad a trade as many other teams have done.
