If he's averaging 28-30 and the Celtics hit 50, he'll be in the mix. He's not an MVP-level player and his actual impact won't be on that level, but he'll be in the conversation due to scoring numbers, wins, and status/reputation around the league.

Only to the uneducated fan who will see his PPG average and go nuts.

Nope, and once the season starts he may not be viewed as the best player. IMO Irving and Hayward are on the same tier. Kyrie is the superior offensives weapon I think Hayward has a huge lead on every other aspect of hoops.

Isaiah Thomas was 5th in MVP voting last year. He does have a legit shot at being a serious threat and I think Brad Stevens will help him. Stats are easier to stuff these days, see Westbrook and Harden when they are running their own team without a shadow of a bigger star. I think he has a shot.

Nope, definitely not serious. He might be up there in the voting though, like 4th/5th just due to Celtics record and his ppg.

IMO Celtics will go down in wins due to roster turnover and learning having to rely on rookies in the rotation. So not an MVP candidate unless he leads the league in scoring.

Kyrie aint even coming top 3 in an MVP race ever.

Iverson 2.0

30 and 7?

I can't see it in this offense at all. IT ran off ball so much, I can't imagine Kyrie will have the ball enough to put 30 AND 7 assists.

What offense? The celtics more or less completely flipped their roster. the offense will have to change too.

Outside of Lebron's stint with Cleveland, Irving hasn't really done all that much to distinguish himself as a bonafide superstar in this league.

MVP expectations seem a bit over the top, proving that he can be THE man will be big enough of a task for him.

Nope. I think Hayward is going to have a bigger impact on the team next season, given his familiarity with Brad Stevens. I am sure the two have had countless talks on the best way to utilize his skillset even before he joined the team.

Can't wait to watch Kyrie dribbles the ball 50 times and force a bad shot or throw an out of rhythm pass to a teammate. The guy hasn't shown any improvement at all. Mark my words. He's in way over his head if he thinks he can lead a team.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

that's an absurd requirement here. He's only played 6 seasons, half with Lebron. We have more than enough to speculate wildly!

One more dark horse candidate: Damien Lillard. Nurkic seemed to fit well on Portland, so I think the team can improve. And this year Lillard is 27, which is really when you expect him to play his best basketball. With his talent, he could definitely explode with a Steph Curry like season if his team can mesh together right.

I don't know who it will be but I do know that I almost certainly won't care. It'll be someone from a team that has absolutely no shot in the playoffs. That includes the Spurs who still have not replaced Parker.

Say the Celtics win 55+ games, averages around 28+ppg 5rpg 8+apg, a few game winners, 1st seed and HCA against the Cavs, i could see the media hype this up. if D-Rose can steal an MVP then Kyrie has the potential at the very least..
