If this trade goes down, I think Lebron James wins MVP.

How so? Will he have the best record or best stats in the league? You not getting a 5th mvp without one or the other.

I'm not saying Lebron will win the MVP, but if there's anyone that can break common tradition it's him.

Kyrie averaging 8 APG is highly unlikely unless he's dominating the ball ala Harden, Westbrook, or Thomas. Brad Stevens isn't letting that happen since he's playing with Hayward.

And the difference between what Rose carried and what Kyrie will "carry" is night and day. Kyrie isn't even going to have the same responsibilities that Peak Rose, Westbrook, or Harden have had during their MVP-quality seasons.

Jordan won it in his 14th NBA season and Lebron is entering his 15th. I don't think any player has ever won it in their 15th or more season.

Ya, I guess it's crazy I think the best player in the league is going to win the MVP.

Lebron James.
For the simple fact that Kyrie Irving was considered a superstar. Kyrie Irving is now being replaced with a star in Isaiah and I have a strong feeling that IT will miss half the season and will return closer to the All Star break. If Cavs are top 2 in the east, LBJ averages 27 ppg/8/8. 50% + Field goal.
Kawhi might also win the MVP if they are top 3 in the West. Giannis will be top 4 IMO and I see him as a future MVP in 2-3 years.

It's between LeBron, Westbrook and Kawhi. Giannis and AD have outside shots. Curry and Durant can't because no one knows who's the best player on the team.

The odds to win are out now.

I'd split my money between Giannis (+850), Harden(+800), and Durant(+450).

Kawhi Leonard +400
Russell Westbrook +450
LeBron James +500
Kevin Durant +550
Giannis Antetokounmpo +850
James Harden +900

Bovada August 23rd odds: I think this is a pretty good list actually -- I'd favor Kawhi myself too although I think everyone on this list is a good possibility.

If he plays 75 games and rest of Cavs besides IT stay healthy, Lebron has a great shot at MVP. Westbrook will be a bit less of a one many show and I don't think the voters will want to give it to him 2 years in a row...
KD I don't think wins it since Steph Curry is flat out a better regular season player and more indispensable to Warriors during regular season at least. Voters make some dumb votes so you never know.

Leonard is a real threat but Lebron since expectations for the Spurs seem lower than normal and Leonard has the reputation as a great defender even if he isn't playing his best D.

I don't see Antetokounmpo winning it next year unless Bucks have best record in the EC.

LeBron is gonna cruise in the regular season. I don't think he'll win it. He'll still post MVP like stats but he won't have the wins or domination to get it.

Westbrook at +450 seems crazy. Repeat anti-bias + George on the team whose a fairly high usage player. yet harden's chances are 1/2 of his?
Giannis sounds like a great bet here.

IT quite possibly would have won the MVP last year if Harden had Paul and Westbrook had George last year. Both guys wouldn't be putting up crazy triple double numbers and be closer to 25ish PPG players. IT running away with the scoring title and the 1 seed as a 5'9 PG would have been an even bigger media narrative especially with Harden and Westy putting up a few less absurd stat lines that we started taking for granted.

Also I see Hayward being closer to a 17-18 PPG scorer than a 20+ guy. People forget Bradley put up 16.5 PPG last year and Crowder added another 14. There's a lot of shots for IT and Kyrie to make up.

Also, a lot of talk about efficiency between Kyrie and IT. It had 9 FTA's a game compared to Kyrie's 4.5. Any fan will tell you IT got at on of superstar bail out calls. I totally expect Stevens to urge Kyrie to draw a little more contact since he's a terrific FT shooter, and while he won't get to the line as much as IT, he'll surely increase his FT output.

Have a feeling Lebron is gonna show out this year, y'all must have forgot who the 4 time MVP is.

Won't surprise me, even with Hayward there and whatever other Semi-Star/Star, Ainge could add
that Irving has a large Super Breakout season and similar to IT's last year with the Celtics is mentioned for MVP consideration.

I don't agree with that. I think the vast majority of intelligent NBA fans know Durant is the better player between the two.

But yeah, highly doubtful either of them win it because of the whole "He plays with Curry" "He plays with Durant" type of thing.

Gordon Hayward, moreso than Kyrie, might be a dark horse to win MVP this year
