Share some of your favorite playoff moments that are destined to be forgotten...

(Would love to see what people post from the early 90's and before, as I was pretty young back then and missed out on a lot of great stuff...)

The youngest basketball *bigtime* memory I had was the 1991 Celtics/Pacers series, Game 5.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/199105050BOS.html

Everyone remembers it for the Larry Bird elements, but there were a ton of low-key amazing elements in the game beyond that.

The game actually ended really crazily, with the Celtics making a lot of turnovers (Mchale actually did a backcourt violation), and the Pacers hitting LONG threes out to wazoo. Definitely an emotional rollercoaster game with a lot of push and pull from both teams.

I distinctly remember the Celtics being up 4 with a few seconds to go and thinking it was over, and Person pulls from like 35 feet and drains a three...just crazy.

I'm sure a dedicated person could find that game on the Internetz :D

Before Lakers/Celtics, The Sixers and Lakers had a fun rivalry

Met in the Finals 3x , 80, 82, 83

How nasty the Boston-L.A.-Philly rivalry was in the early 80's. Andrew Toney dropping 33 on the Celts in game seven, 1982 ECF, but the well-rested Lakers taking the title from Philly in the finals, hehe. Then they got Moses, ugh.

The very first playoff game I saw in person was Philly-Celtics game seven at the Boston Garden. There were only a few seconds left, Boston leading 110-109 when Russell tried to inbound the ball but it hit one of the wires holding up the backboard. The Sixers got the turnover, and the inbound pass they tried was tipped by Havlicek and the Sixers lost. I remember Wilt went off in that game getting 30 points and 30 or 32 rebounds and shot 80% from he field, but other than Chet Walker the rest of the team shot poorly. I can't remember another playoff game off the top of my head where a player got at least 30 points and 30 boards. I do remember Luke Jackson and one of their other guards having really bad shooting days.

Not 90s, but...

2007 We Believe Warriors upsetting the Dallas Mavericks.

It's already been 10 years and social media wasn't as ubiquitous as it is now. Also, not a lot of huge names on the Warriors so that series will most likely not even be talked about much in future years.

You also need a lot of context in order to see why that series was special for Warriors fans: GSW's first playoff berth in 12 years; Dirk winning MVP; the big 16-5 run the Warriors had to clinch the Playoffs when they were below .500 and had the toughest remaining schedule in the league.

Even the story of the "We Believe" slogan had a lot going, too. During unlikely regular season run, the Warriors were doing bad and looked to add another year to their Playoff drought. All of a sudden a fan kept going to the games with a sign that said "We Believe Playoff" and the Warriors just kept winning and the slogan took a life of its own. The fan got the Believe thing because he was going through problems with his marriage, and used a proactive mindset towards it and then tried to carry it over to being a fan at the games.

One day, he drives down the freeway with his wife and sees a huge "We Believe" banner outside Oracle during the Playoffs; a reminder to him of what his belief created.

Stuff like that, and the story of Matt Barnes revitalizing his career with the Warriors, but that in itself is a lengthy story which requires context as well.

Great series overall. If the Mavericks moved on they probably would have beaten the Spurs and we'd have seen prime Dirk vs young LeBron in the Finals.

Steph's late 3 to send to OT against the Pels a couple of years back. He was clobbered on the play, with no foul called (as usual with Steph), but to even get the shot up over an advancing inspector gadget in Anthony Davis was amazing. The Warriors went on to win in OT.

The play will get forgotten, but I lost my ess when this happened.

Young kids won't remember that James Harden single-handedly beat the championship-level Warriors twice in games in the playoffs.

To all the new-ish NBA fans, here's why Rajon Rondo was once considered a top 10 player in the league. He was the best player in a series involving LeBron, Pierce, Allen, and Garnett.

I still remember game 6 of the 1868 Nor'eastern Conference Finals, when Grady Ironside scored 37 to lead the Missourah Tumbleweeds past the Roanoke Knickerbockers (this was before they moved to New York). I wish I could find some clips of it, but YouTube didn't start allowing NBA highlights to be uploaded until the late 1890s.

All these young whippersnappers have forgotten about how good the Gold-Rush-era NBA was, man.
