Did the Wolves manage to screw something up again?

There are whispers around town that Wiggins is pissed with KAT and Jimmy Butler. Privately they were lobbying to get Kyrie Irving at any means necessary. This could be why he hasn't signed that extension and the drama around him firing his agent.

Even if the whispers/rumors are true, how would this be the Wolves screwing something up? If I'm understanding your post, it sounds like two players wanted Kyrie, and a third player making a leap that the first two players would have traded him to get Kyrie. In that description, the TWolves didn't do anything. Unless the premise is that they should have traded Wiggins to get Kyrie and everyone would have lived happily ever after. But that also assumes that was an option. If I was Cleveland I'd totally take the offer they got instead of Wiggins.

Shouldn't Teague be more pissed?
Still, have to say that the dragging of the extension signing is weird.

The reason Andrew Wiggins fired his agent is because other agencies colluded and offered to take no commission fees on his contracts; it was an attempt to save money through undercutting his (now previous) agent.

That could just be part of it. There is something going on with Wiggins though. This is the first summer that he hasn't been around the Twin Cities at all. And from what Doogie Wolfson said on his latest podcast, he hasn't even met with Jimmy or KAT all summer (And you don't need to be in Minnesota to do that.) Meanwhile, KAT was at Jimmy's press conference introduction and they have met and worked out together numerous times already.

OFC they screwed things up. Their honcho Thibodumb thinks he can challenge the Warriors (what an idiot!) and that shows you again that you don't hire a coach to be your GM. Now they have a shallow rotation that will be in lux tax in a few seasons. Butlers won't last 5 seasons at elite level but will ask for super max to stay. A waterbug PG in Teague won't age well in his 30s. No more lottery picks. Towns will have to do it on his own in 5 years. In the meantime they will come up short against GSW every year. No championships in sight.

The financial aspect is the only reason he fired his agent, that is it. The rest is really just pointless speculation at this stage.

I think he will sign it, but if he doesn't, do this:

I know you're just trying to be brash and truculent but after 13 seasons with no playoffs, we Wolves fans would be more than happy to just make the playoffs, let alone get far enough to come up short against the Warriors. Obviously we'd love a championship in a perfect world, but I'll settle for being mildly competitive at this point.

Wolves fans are just happy to be relevant again. Plus no championships in sight for anyone except the warriors. If you're in the west your goal is just to beat the dubs once in playoffs, don't want them going 12-0 every year. And I wouldn't rely on the east winning one finals game every year with an aging lebron. You can't expect the wolves to postpone their playoff contention another 5 years just because of GSW. That's like expecting the rest of the nba to retire cause they won't be winning championships anyway

That does seem like a player chemistry issue thing and nothing to do with ownership or FO.

If Wiggins needs to be traded, Middleton is my top target. I would love to see what Butler and Middleton could do as wings on same team. Plus all Wolves would have to do is move Dieng over next 2 years, and Butler-Middleton-Teague-Gibson-Crawford would all have contracts expire/option. Could they collude a big 4? Adding another superstar to Butler-Middleton-Towns.

I would be looking to trade him. Who the eff is he to be pouting when they're offering him a megamax deal despite the fact that he's a one trick pony on the court

As a long-standing Warriors fan, yup. I don't remember our fans complaining that we weren't going to win a title in the We Believe year when we broke our playoff drought. Sometimes you just need to establish some legitimacy.

Just move Wiggins now. Maybe in a package to Toronto centered around Lowry.
Lowry-Butler-Towns is an amazing Big 3.

I think Raptors would want to pair him with Lowry DeRozan and Ibaka? It'd be hard trading for him.

You think that Raptors need DeRozan junior alongside DeRozan senior ?

Timberwolves have 2 stars in Butler and Towns in the top 25 plus borderline all stars in Teague and Wiggins.
Getting the right pieces to surround the 2 stars is key. Towns is a match up problem for GS.
