Why Nash?

Underrated basketball mind (even better than Kidd) and is active with the development of the Warriors

Well, we need a team first.

Are you willing to donate the Raps?

Why not bring in a former Sonic to come in... Nate McMillan or GP (If interested)

Steve Ballmer, David Stern talk prospects of NBA return to Seattle

Ballmer, of course, was a principal in two potential Sonics efforts, one to try to keep the team from moving to Oklahoma City in 2008, and the second as a partner with Chris Hansen to try to purchase the Sacramento Kings and relocate them to Seattle. A big part of the reason that attempt failed was that, in large part due to the Sonics exit, the NBA wanted to make sure every effort went into keeping teams from moving.

“[...] I mean, it’s part of the reason why I was happy to buy a team in L.A. I went to see the commissioner right after I retired, and he said, “Look, we’ve learned our lesson. We don’t want teams to move.” So if you want to buy a team, don’t expect to be able to buy it and move it to Seattle.”

In the discussion, the point was reiterated the Ballmer has no intention of moving the Clippers north up I-5.

“Although a team in L.A. moving to Seattle, I have to say it’ll lose probably about half its value. So please don’t look at me to take the haircut even for our beloved city.”

This should end all of the relocation talk!

Stern on Seattle...

“I do think that if they expand, or ever move a team, Seattle, my guess is, is first in line,” Stern said. “The big two at some point were Seattle and Las Vegas, but I don’t think there will be an NBA team in Las Vegas now because there’s NHL and WNBA and NFL. But Seattle is a good town. I think the NHL is going to go in there too. And that’s great. With Tim Leiweke planning to spend $600 million on Key Arena, that’s good for Seattle. But usually the first team in does very well.”

I wonder if the NBA still has the position that they want to expand rather than move teams.

I see a lot of empty seats in games.

I would much rather expand than relocate. There is enough international talent to more than justify at least two more teams in the league.

Seriously, it's gotta be the Sonics, and that city needs a team again ASAP. If you guys don't get it soon, I wouldn't be surprised if Durant goes in on a group to start a team as soon as retires. He loved Seattle.

This is not good work, but it's great results.

Why do some fans want to break Clipper fans' hearts so much by moving the Clippers to Seattle?

Expansion is preferable by a landslide. But neither is happening any time soon.

And Stern can eat a dick. He didn't like Seattle so much when he was helping the team get moved.

All it ends is that nonsense stuff about the Clippers leaving Los Angeles and moving to Seattle.

Other than that, there are teams in tough situations and if the club of 30 billionaires deems one of them moving being OK, that's the way it would be done.

I thought that quote was from 2008 though.

Lot of things have changed since then, not the least of which is a huge TV contract. I think many owners would rather not share those TV revenues unless the franchise fee is huge.

The quote he's referencing (from Silver) was shortly before Ballmer bought the Clippers (2014). After the failed attempt to relocate the Kings (2013). Frankly, the league isn't looking to move teams. We were the guinea pig. Paid the price & now are stuck in limbo without a realistic possibility of acquiring a team again.

I used to feel for Seattle but they went on a half decade tear of trying to hijack everyone else’s team so I couldn’t care less if Washington ever got another treadmill franchise

Bucks tricked me into being a diehard in 2001, LeBron is the 2nd best player ever, and pizza is awesome.

Did the city of Seattle? Or did One Group of Billionaires try to do that?

Yes, there is one group that nearly bought the Kings & tried to move them. Same goes for the Bucks (Ballmer was included in that group). But, what does that have to do with fans? It's not like WE have a choice when it comes to Expansion or relocation.

FWIW, the large majority of fans prefer Expansion.

What an asinine comment. The Wizards have nothing to do with this.

Seattle will get a team, I repeat WILL.

It's a matter of when, not if.

It's trending to be a top 10 market size-wise and is very affluent.
