Who do you have as the MIP?
Everyone gets 3 votes.

Porzingis has made the leap to MVP contender in the absence of Melo, and the Knicks are actually decent this year, on a team where the second and third best players seem to be Enes Kanter and Tim Hardaway, Jr. Hard to argue with that.

Oladipo probably, or Aaron Gordon.

Gotta be Oladipo, Gordon, and Ingram or Brown. Booker and Porzingis are kind of following their usage and expectation trajectories.

Why are you putting second year players? As one ever won? It's normal that they get better.
I would probably vote for Oladipo. Porzingis getting better was sort of expected.

Watch Aaron Gordon's 3pt % drop <35% before the season is over. He isn't that good.

The only choices from that list I like right now are Porzingis, Oladipo and Gordon as the top 3 in some order. Brown and Ingram would be next.
Drummond and Sabonis derseve a mention though. Drummond’s advanced stats show a much improved player on both sides of the ball and a leap to elite level defense while Sabonis has jumped from a certified scrub who I had all but written off to a solid rotation player.

Yeah definitely Oladipo so far, but this level of three point shooting is not sustainable. We will see if he remains efficient once that falls back to earth

Nikola Jokic finished second in the voting last year.

This isn't the comeback player of the year award.

Oladipo looks like an entirely different player so I'd give it to him if the season ended today. Giannis has improved quite a bit as well, from borderline superstar to flat out MVP candidate. Porzingis has too, but he's come back down to earth a bit after his red hot start and it was expected that his numbers would go up now being the #1 option obviously.
Drummond deserves an honorable mention. He's scoring more despite taking less shots, he's no longer a liability at the line, his defense has improved and he's nearly quadrupled his assist per game average from last season. This is in big part due to his new role in the offense, but regardless he's improved tremendously in terms of passing and decision making.

I disagree with that. You should expect improvement from a rookie.
But still, it's a very rare thing (1/32). I went to look expecting an astonishing 2nd season and he just played more minutes and shot the ball more, exactly what the "MIP" shouldn't be about. It seems to me like the voters made a mistake that year.
10.9/3.7/2.8 TS% .562 in 24.6 min
18.3/6.3/3.5 TS% .540 in 35.0 min
He played 30% more minute and took 43% more shot to score 40% more point. Why did he win having the kind of improvement most second year player have?
