WOJ: Very Unlikely Paul George Is Staying

Post#1 » by Mister Ze » Wed Dec 13, 2017 2:51 pm

Edit: Link was removed
Wojnarowski: "It's unlikely that in 2 months PG13 is going to be able to say to OKC [that he is staying]..Melo is going to opt in..They'll really have to gut that roster. You're looking at a payroll of over $250mil. And if you're PG13 you're looking at how they are going to build a team around you."

Not exactly breaking news but the question is whether Presti pulls the trigger to trade him or rides it out. Would be disappointing to see the Thunder lose Oladipo + Sabonis for a 1 year rental.

In insight, it could well end up being on of the worst trade of the past few years. IF the Thunder misses the playoff and loses Paul George for nothing, it's going to be way up there.

The only redeeming thing is that Oladipo would probably not have exploded in OKC.

Not surprising really, I think most of us saw this coming. If he does resign that team will be capped the **** out with few options to improve the roster.

Teams are only going to trade disgruntled players or **** for a 2/3 of a season rental.

Sam Presti getting too much free passes now. He should be fired along with Donovan.

So much for the "Sam Presti is a genius" posts before the season began

Presti gets a pass on the Harden situation because Ownership wouldnt pay both Ibaka and Harden plus Harden wanted his own team. Oladipo was marginalized anyways with Russ dominating the ball and Sabonis was still a question mark but obvious upside so all in all its still a decent swing for the fence to keep Russ happy but i agree Donovan isnt the right guy for this personnel and Presti could have done more to build a bench or add shooters but this move fell into his lap last minute most likely

Donovon for sure fired. But how many more moves Presti keeps screwing up till hes gone. PG and melo not working. Losing two top 5 players. Sure he is good at drafting. But GM not so great. Keep his as draft scout tho.

Never thought he was one. Besides being a good at draft picks i don't see any great moves he made.

I don't know about "fired" but he certainly shouldn't be hailed as this wizard of a GM. In fairness, I thought this prior to the George trade so I'm probably pretty biased. :)

I cant see them trading George unless they just completely collapse before the all star break. They are going to be holding out hope that this will turn around and they would look so bad, so incompetent they will view trading George as the very last resort.

If they do trade him, I hope it’s to a team outside the top 5. Would love to see him end up in TOR / WAS / MIL.

That moment when you realized Pacers didn't only win that trade, but it was highway robbery.

Can’t see anybody giving up anything of any value.
