Wait, are you serious with the Mirotic bit or is this post unrelated to your other posts in this thread?

lol, not serious. but ... lets see. Bulls were dead last in the league. supposed to lose and get #1. then this dude comes in and all the team does is to win. if team, miraculous make the playoffs because of him .. them .. well. id not be joking

Its the same notion of last years MVP. Asides of triple double average, OKC lost his other super star and Westbrook took that team to playoffs. that is how valuable he was.

this year good candidate, so far its Lebron (although he still has Love)

Lebron. CP3 will take away votes from Harden and Lebron is leading him in nearly every advanced metric.

No one thought KD deserved it over Lebron during those seasons. However, there seems to be a general feeling that Harden deserved it more than Westbrook last year so if its close at the year end, this could just tilt the vote in his favor.

Not if they finish behind Boston, also the cumulative stats the Cavs have played 3 more games than the Rockets.

21 free throws for Harden. Could you even imagine Lebrons numbers if he got anywhere near the same amount of calls as Harden? This league is a joke.

Harden is definitely at better getting to the line but some of the hits Lebron takes at the rim with no call harden gets 100% of those calls

Harden got one of those rip through 3s this game. Given LeBron has more shots at the rim than anyone how is harden getting so many fts. He isn't trying to go for the foul as much this year, but the refs seem to give him a lot of fts.

No Harden doesn't get all the calls at the rim like he used to.
The difference are the calls he gets after his pump fakes/jab steps and the quick jumpshots.
The ref protection on the jumpshooter is insane nowadays and Harden simply take advantage of that.

The defender is usually tight marking him and if he slightly touches him on the way up(even without reaching) Harden will flop and get the call 8 times out of 10. That's 2 or 3 free throws right there and because the contact(if there is any) is so minimal Harden makes half of those jumpshots too.

That's a huge advantage over the guys that live in the paint but it's 2017 and you have to deal with it.

Referees ignore half of Harden's contact drives, but at the same time will call fouls on shots where Harden isn't even probing for or receiving contact from a defender. Maybe the NBA needs to expand to having four refs on the floor because they will never get James Harden right.

Think it should also come down to defense...who has been the better defender between the 2 this year according to the stats?

According to @SecondSpectrum, there have been 174 players which have been the nearest defender on at least 30 shots within 3 feet. Only 2 have held players to under 50% shooting on those shots. One is the 7'3" Kristaps Porzingis. Other is the 6'8" LeBron James.

I don't like it when people call James Harden 'King Harden'. It's like calling Lebron Strong Mamba.

Lebron might have the Cavs sitting at the #1 seed before IT's return and losing Kyrie. Impressive. Very very very impressive. But nobody is shocked. Nobody is looking at it like it's abnormal. It's because we all know hes that great. He deserves 1 more MVP, and given that he's having the best season of his career 15 years later, it's his MVP to win.

Bron's in a great groove right now. This is turning into an exciting MVP race.

Hot take but if the Cavs win the Christmas Day matchup LeBron has it in the bag. Right now the narrative is that they're only beating bad teams but he's beasting. If they take that game he's gonna cruise through the season with his hand firmly on the narrative steering wheel. Especially when IT comes back and they rip off another 21-3 game stretch or something along those lines once he's acclimated
LeBron's NBA Cup MVP is more valuable than either of KD's Finals MVPs. This is the word of the Lord

Dark horse MVP candidate: Demar Derozan

Toronto is an 8 SRS team and have been on a roll for the past 15 games, it really won't be surprising if they get the 1 seed by the end of the season at this point, with Derozan being the primary scorer. If Kyrie gets MVP votes thrown his way that same logic should also get Derozan votes.

Yeah derozan having an underrated season. This season his advance stats look good too.

4.6 win shares 8th in nba. Raptors have played 5 less games than Celtics and 4 less games than cavs. So he could move into top 5 easily just have them playing same amount of games

.213 WS/48

3.9 ORPM

In December averaging he is averaging

27.6pts
5.4assists
4.5rebs
51%
40% from on 2.5 attempts
Raptors 9-1 in december

He should be top 7 voting atleast if raptors maintain record over season

LeBron is going all in for that 5th MVP. He might end up wearing himself out by the playoffs unfortunately.
