Every time I see his name mentioned I think of the journeyman Mike James of old. Probably because he hung around the league for so long, it’s almost like I’m expecting him to be making another comeback every time.

Probably because he's awful.
Real reason: Because his two-way contract converted into a real NBA contract due to the play 10 games thing or whatever it is. But I guess him being awful is also the real reason

He played well enough to be converted from 2way to standard contract. But then Isaiah Canaan came in and outplayed him on an injury exception roster spot. They have to get back down to 15 so he’s out.

Because he sucks. He had one good game and was garbage afterwards. They just gave him a minimum deal because they probably promised to after that one good game

To everybody saying he sucks, he didn't. He had 3 20+ point games and multiple other double-digit scoring games. He just fell out of the rotation after they brought Isaiah Canaan in and they needed to get the roster back down to 15 spots. He should definitely find another spot on an NBA roster though.

Any NBA player who takes enough shots will get some points.
He sucks.

Lonzo Ball gets away with it.

Because he is a damn ball hog.
If you watch him wave better players away so he can get isolation... Then either gets rejected or launches a wild shot.... While ignoring team mates... Developing team mates who need the ball to improve.... You know why he was released.
Isaiah Canaan came in... Showed how a role playing PG is suppose to be... Distribute the ball... Run the plays.... Get the ball to players.... Shoot last or if it's the best play remaining. Much better by eye test and suns also as a team has looked better.

Lonzo is struggling shooting.
But decision making on court is crazy good.
He makes team mates better... He's like Rubio but with the ability to get hot shooting wise.

He was brought in to be a point guard.
Hopefully a proper point guard.
But what Mike James was or is, is a bad shooting ball hog.

Basically McDonough went on radio after 2 weeks saying he'd sign James.
So he had to pay him what he promised otherwise he would have been let go earlier.
Couldn't afford another player fallout.

He's 42 years old, I don't blame them.

Yea same with me, which is ridiculous since he is on Houstons coaching staff

I know it was only against the Kings, but he looked good against against us. I was a bit surprised that he was cut (just going by his performance against the Kings).

He'd be a big upgrade at backup PG for several teams. I'm surprised Charlotte or Denver hasn't already brought him in.

Yeah, me as well, first time I saw a thread or headline with him in it I was like the other 'MJ' is still playing?
Nice to hear he is on an NBA bench as a coach though.
