Kyle Korver is unappreciated.

It's crazy how underappreciated Kyle Copy That Korver is.

Boy was the 51st pick in the 2003 draft out of Creighton (what the hell is that? some kind of Fish?), was traded on draft day for a copier and is now in his 15th year in the association at 37 YEARS OLD.

That alone is impressive enough but when you consider that the dude is still FLAME ON from three (43.6% in the regular season and 46.8% in the playoffs), automatic from the free throw line (FT% over the last 3 years = 87.5%) and making a significant impact for a contender despite being doubted his entire career because of his boyish good looks and never having the advantage of being an athletic wunderkind then you can't help but tip your hat and put some COD JAM RESPEK on the name.

Kyle Copy That Korver has been role player killing the game for so long that his lack of appreciation is criminal.

Also for those unaware where the nickname stems from, let me throw some history at you:

As the second round of the 2003 draft puttered along, the Nets watched as teams ahead of them plucked every player in which New Jersey had interest. The team, fresh off an Atlantic Division win and an appearance in the NBA Finals, was so low on cash, it considered selling the pick to finance its summer league team.

With none of their preferred choices on the board, the Nets brass selected Creighton forward Kyle Korver with the 51st pick — and immediately sold his draft rights to the Sixers for $125,000. That covered summer league. With the leftover cash, the Nets bought a new copy machine.

No smile in the Hawks picture? He must have been pissed that the Bulls traded him, which I'm still pissed about. :banghead:

Provides some of the easiest assists in the game.

Not really surprising that he's effective at his age. Shooting is the last thing to go and there's no reason a 37 year old in good physical condition can't run around screens for 20 minutes a night. Most impressive is that he successfully transitioned to the NBA after a solid acting career in which he starred in That 70s Show and Dude Where's My Car.

He’s had a really really good year. Love, Lebron and himself have been the only consistent contributors for the cavs. He should have been starting all year.

the wing position is the most athletic position in the league. So for him to be able to "outrun" much younger athletes by perfectly manoeuvring around screens and using small pockets of space go get his shot off is definitely very impressive.

He is the type of player whose impact on the court is much greater than his modest stats would suggest.

Copy that Korver? Am missing something? Other than that yeah, he's a good player.

It's explained in the quote in the first post. It's his nickname. Because he was essentially traded by the Nets for a copier.

He doesn't even start now...he's a one dimensional player that doesn't defend...if he can't get his shot off....he's useless

Moderately. He has the type of game that should age well. And while still good, he's not the player he was.

Cool. The starter this season at the two guard has been a zero Dimensional player.

He can create his own shot which is needed as a SG and he usually matches up w the best perimeter offensive player...not saying JR is great, but hes more valuable than Korver

Though he is a bit older now, he was actually a serviceable team defender for Budenholzer's Hawks. Given the Cavs have no defense to speak of, his defensive shortcomings are now exacerbated....

Among limited, one-dimensional players, he's excellent at that one dimension, the three-ball, that has important NBA value

but that shouldn't obscure that he's still one-dimensional. He doesn't get to the foul line, is an anemic rebounder, a poor defender, rarely gets assists, and only has a 1.6 assist/turnover ratio. He's especially useful on a team that has Lebron, but that wouldn't tranlate as well to most other teams
