Tied '89 MJ's postseason record of 7 40 point games tonight. Only Jerry West has more with 8.

Is LeBron having the GOAT postseason?

I think it depends how you want to measure offense given MJ had a bunch where he avged 35+ but this playoffs for LeBron currently ranks 3rd all time in per and 2nd all time in bpm. Not too shabby.

I'd say it has a good argument. He's been amazing to watch.

°Yeah but he won against a 73 win team.
-Mike was way better. LeBron lost 5 finals. Mike was 6/6

The craziest thing about Lebron is he just makes some of his stat lines look so effortless. Like his game last night; 44-5-3. I honestly thought he played just okay. That is best attribute. He makes absolute greatness look ordinary on a nightly basis.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him average 32/8/9 on 64% TS in the 2019 playoffs next year either :)

yea but in the west he would average 10 - 3 - 4 on 25% TS. He would be just another player. If guys like Gerald Green or PJ Tucker ever got the chance to play in the east, they would be all-stars.
That said, I think he's one of the few stars left who have to produce gaudy numbers for their team to have a shot at getting playoff wins. Saw the same with AD, Oladipo too, basically Lillard too if he had been able to play well.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Most impressive thing is the efficiency...there might be players who put up 30 ppg in playoffs in the past but averaging 33ppg at 63% TS is just insane.

We really don't appreciate him enough. I know he gets plenty of love, but we've never seen a player who is so good across so many of the distinct skills involved in playing basketball. I don't think he's below average at any single thing (when he's trying). And he's also got elite intangibles.

I know every generation improves on the last and players figure out new ways to do ****, but I can't see how anyone ever matches what LeBron has done.

MJ has averaged more points than that in 6 different post seasons. Given today's offensive age of sports (not just basketball).. stats today are a tad inflated. Not stad padded, just inflated. Jordan's career 33ppg in the playoffs, 6 playoffs scoring more than Lebron's 34 this year, and his total domination of the finals in the 90s make it hard for ANYONE to have superior playoff runs to mj overall.

Even if the PER is better, or the statline is prettier.

Lebron's dominance this post season is gathered by watching, not reading out of context stats.
Lebron is having a playoff run among the GOATs. But definitely not THE GOAT playoff run.

He's averaging 29/9/7 on 59% TS over his last 117 playoff games, so that takes him back to the 2013 post season. For comparison, Kevin Durant has played 119 career playoff games.

Considering the myth that MJ has become, LeBron is headed in that direction and beyond at this rate. The next 'savior' of the NBA is will have a tough time measuring up to LeBron's greatness.

"So what if your boy is putting up a 30 playoff PER in his prime? LeBron was a 34 PER in year 15. Call me up when this chump can do that."

Kevin Durant, one of the most talented players of all time and probably picked as the best 2nd individual player in the league-25 PER
Steph Curry, 2 time MVP in his prime-23 PER
James Harden, widely recognized as a top 5 guy and likely MVP this season- 27 PER
Russell Westbrook, MVP, top 5 player, stat machine-20 PER
Anthony Davis, another top player in the league- 26 PER

Greek freak 26 PER, Lillard 9 PER (damn), Towns 17 PER, George 14.5 PEr

Lebron James PER- 34

All these guys widely recognized as top 20 guys in the league, some of them top 5. Some of them are amongst the most talented (at least offensively) players in the history of the league.

How come then, in this NBA where stats are inflated, Lebron's the only one putting up gaudy numbers? Numbers that are more than a few standard deviations higher than the next contender? Against 2 top 5 defensive teams no less (Boston/Toronto) and another above average one in Indy. Explain that one.
