Frank Ntilikina is GROWING!

We all know Frank had a pretty bad rookie year, but it doesn't hide the fact that he has some huge potiental. He's confirmed at 6'6" now, he's adding a ton of muscle and working with Chris Brickley during the off season. May I add he's still 19 years old..
Frank working with a heavy ball during his ball handling drills. vv
I know this is the general board, but man I think everyone including myself who counted him out are in for a treat with this kid

Was his season really bad? We knew he is huge project offensively, but his defense looked even better than advertised. Reminds me of Jrue Holiday, who I also liked very much as prospect (they both came into the league very young).

Lack of size was not really his problem

Nothing says "Improving!" like an uncontested dunk in the off-season!

He had a very up and down. Pretty bad offensively although late into the season he showed he had something there. Defensivly he's a beast. I think most people dont think his offensive game will come a long, but him growing, getting stronger, and his work ethic says otherwise.

Wait a minute, isn't Chris Brickley the old shooting coach of Markelle Fultz?

Smart had a clip from last summer where he made 4-5 threes in a row and we were all hyped up. Well things didn't turn out the way we hoped. Wait to see what he can do in game.

His jumper isn't broken.

That's a very unimaginative way to look at imo. More reach and strength will help Ntilikina defend small forwards, front bigger players, battle under the boards, etc. It'll help him be even better at the things he's good at. Then you put him at PG, and you have a lot of size on the wing and can switch everything seamlessly.
Obviously he needs to develop his offensive game too, but getting bigger is only going to accentuate what makes Ntilikina an exciting prospect.

I thought his offensive performance last season was actually encouraging. I like his shooting stroke, his court vision and passing.
Where I thought he really lacked was in confidence and aggressiveness. He often seemed afraid of making mistakes, reluctant to shoot or attack mismatches, and too quick to pick up his dribble instead of attacking or probing the defense. But the more aggressive he was, the better he was, and I hope and anticipate that as he matures and gets more comfortable, his confidence will grow and the aggressiveness he showed flashes of will become more of the norm.
I also feel his best potential is at the point and the Knicks really mishandled him by trying to protect him, and by playing him too much off the ball. He's a high IQ player who is going to learn from his mistakes, so he needs to be allowed (and even encouraged) to make them and play through them, especially since the Knicks were not competing for anything other than draft position even before KP went down.
His defense is already excellent.
If you just read box scores, he didn't have a good year, but watching him play I thought he had a very encouraging one.

He's going to be a solid guard for many years in the league.

Ehh he was drafted so highly because of his raw athleticism and size as a guard. He was only 18 when drafted too but the physical gifts stood out the most

some people here failed to realize that growing part was more of the metaphor on him working on his game overall. He is working on his handle and explosiveness it seems, 2 things were there is room for improvement. I rather Frank than Dennis Smith by the way, Frenchman looks promising.

I've been rooting for him after he was the collateral damage for LeBron trying to insult Phil.

Mitchell is a star player no doubt. But Frank's current defensive game is absolutley game breaking, he was locking up Kyrie ffs. A 6'6" point guard who was a raw player will learn and become a star. He's going to become the point guard version of the unicorn. So yeah I doubt it becomes such a blunder down the road.
I wonder what Mitchell was doing at 19

I think it's probably a losing battle to compare him to Mitchell for now, but there is no reason why Frank can't be a great player in his own right.
