Personally I really like Porzingis BUT...

Post#1 » by Hubert44 » Tue Jul 17, 2018 7:44 pm

... is the outlook for the rest of his career a positive one? How positive? Does the good (height, athleticism, coordination, hard worker, potential as a shooter, rim protector) outweigh the concern (last year was solid but was only 48 games and he was gradually declining before he got hurt; recovery from ACL)?

Give me some hope.

He's too talented to not build around, but he may not be durable enough to be your lead guy... In these situations I typically lean towards building around the guy anyway and rolling with the punches but a drastic minute management program may need to be put into place to ensure that KP is healthy come year end.

It's impossible to say, but there's some talk that Durant will come to the Knicks once his contract is up to win a championship with the Zinger.

7'3 is always concern for injuries, but i heard his doctor said that his knee tear is one of the best he have seen, meaning not too bad.

I worry he might go the way of Brandon Roy and Danny Granger... to your point, I guess their teams kept moving and fared OK.

I wouldn't trust him to shoulder the workload NY has needed him to over the past couple of years, but he would thrive paired with a dynamic guard imo. He just needs some help period.

He is recovering well. He is busy slipping DMs to models on Instagram.

I'm skeptical but if everything breaks right Zinger, Knox, Frank, Mitchell Robinson, Hardaway, 2019 pick could be a pretty good base for 2 max free agents to join. Especially in the East.

Wasn't there tension between porky and the front office? I recall his brother having a lot to say and porky tweeting strange things. If true, this injury could have humbled porky and his people but if I'm the Knicks I'm not offering anything until he proves he's healthy.

My sense is that KP still doesn't tootally trust the organization but that the tension has somewhat lifted. The story is that the tension had more to do with Phil and Hornacek than with Perry/Mills. And reports are good on his nascent relationship with Fizdale... I can't imagine he likes Dolan very much, though.

It sucks for the Knicks who have been so bad for so long, to finally draft a potential generational talent in Porzingis.

Only to have him suffer a DEVESTATING injury.

Well at least it looks like they drafted well again this year with Knox and Robison. Hopefully no more injuries to cornerstone players and they should be alright.

If you're that bearish on Porzingis, I'd hate to hear your thoughts on Embiid.

Not to be a downer, but I'm more bearish on KP than Embiid. Embiid has already shown what he can do post-recovery. What KP can do is anyone's guess.

There's reason to be optimistic about both, but I will say the perception of Embiid's injury history is skewed by our FO's commitment to the tank. He easily could have returned 2 years ago, and the year before that. Last year he would have played a full season if not for a freak orbital fracture.

People think it may happen because KD though him winning a championship meant people would stop giving him crap, but now they give him crap for joining a 73 win team.

If he went to New York and won a title as the man for a franchise that hasn't won since the early 70s, the narrative on him would change and it would be great for his brand.

Porzingis is going to need to learn to play to minimize his injury risk and the Knicks need to not have him trying to chase out guys to the 3 pt line on defense.

ACL injuries are one of the easiest to recover from. Foot injuries are a lot more threatening to a career.

Don't let Adam Silver know about that.
