There's nothing to "lol" about. Lowry is good, but not top 12 worthy. Heck there's a lot more people on the board that are still better.

I have lowry in the 18-20 section

I have voted for Oladipo in the last two (over Embiid and definitely over Jokic) and I am going with him. I do believe that from the list right now he is the BPA and I would definitely take him over Kyrie due to the two way potential here.

I am nominating John Wall I am really surprised he hasn't been added this far. I get that he talks and whines too much off the court but on the court he is somewhere in the top 20 for me.

Oladipo is now considered a better player than PG13. Crazy what a difference a year makes.

Come on, I'm as high on Lowry as anyone, but there's no way it's "LOL" to have players like Paul, Butler, Jokic, and Embiid over him. Wouldn't be unreasonable to put Oladipo, Dray, and Simmons over him either. Remember, this is a 2017/18 ranking and he's turning 33 this season. Even if you wanna say he's been a Top 10 player the last 2 or 3 years, that doesn't guarantee him a spot in the Top 15 with how ridiculously deep the second tier of superstars is right now.

I have to say, I'm really impressed with the forum so far. This is an excellent list. Only thing I really disagree with is KD and Steph at 2 and 3 over AD/Giannis/Harden and even that's totally understandable/reasonable. Voting and discussion have both been of a higher quality than I expected them to be. If Oladipo gets picked ahead of Kyrie, everyone gets a gold star. :D

1A) Gobert
1B) Draymond
3) Lillard
4) Irving
5) Oladipo
6) George

I would've rolled my vote over against the Irving bloc for the right person, but I don't think Oladipo is quite on that level yet.

Add Klay Thompson.

I voted for Draymond - I kind of agree that if we're talking 2018/19 regular season, Draymond likely wouldn't crack the top 20. But I still think he's shown enough for me over the past 4 seasons to conclude he's "better" than Gobert, even if the results don't bear that out by the end of the year. I think he's earned the benefit the doubt cruise through the regular season without getting docked too much, If that makes any sense.

Yallbecrazy wrote:"lol @ Lowry not being top 12"

Lowry definitely deserves consideration here after 3 straight top 10 RPM finishes and being the leader of a perennial 50 win team. I'm trying to decide if it's more likely Lowry has a steep-ish decline in his age 32 season or Oladipo regresses closer to his pre-2018 status. I think I'd give the benefit of the doubt to Lowry based on his track record.

Add Horford.

#12 is way too high for a center that can't defend. Jokic is a special talent offensively and has a case for Top 15, but there's a difference between a guard who can't play defense and a center who can't play defense. I'd take Kyrie, Lillard, Oladipo, George, Draymond and Gobert over him.

Voted Kyrie Irving. I think the forum is badly suffering from recency and injury bias when it comes to Kyrie and also ignoring the added level of difficulty in the Playoffs. Kyrie is arguably the most battle-tested offensive player among non-superstars. His ability to make shots against elite defensive coverage is getting extremely underrated here. We just saw Lillard completely disappear against the Pelicans and get swept and some folks are voting for him over Kyrie. Really? You really think Kyrie would get shut down like that?

I really have the feeling RealGM has gone way too far up its own arse when it comes to scoring. Knowing casual fans overrate scoring is one thing, but underrating the ability to score to the extent RealGM does is something else. Scoring has to come from somewhere. Having a player that can still get his points against elite defense is of tremendous help. It really boggles my mind that the impact of isolation scoring against elite defenses in the Playoffs still gets ignored despite '16 Finals and '18 Conference Finals making a significant point to that end.

People who are familiar with my posts on the PC Board will know that I'm an advocate of advanced stats, but the way isolation scorers are portrayed in impact stats points to a fault in the stats, not the other way around. Three point specialist role players keep ranking higher offensively than excellent isolation scorers do. Something's off there. People's view of Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Carmelo Anthony and the like has suffered immensely as a result of this and while I do think there's something to take away from it, I think the discrediting has become way too crazy. We now have guys genuinely saying that they'd take Robert Covington over peak Carmelo Anthony, that's insanity.

Rudy Gobert and its not even close at this point.

Give me pretty much any random set of other NBA players and with Gobert a semi competent coach can create a top 3 defense.

(hes also a good offensive player who sets fantastic screens and has great gravity on the roll)

Noone else left has anywhere near the impact as to almost single handedly creating a top offense of defense.

Nominating Aldridge.

He carried the Spurs to 47 wins in the West last season without any other top 50 players, and arguably without any other top 100 players. That's quite an impressive feat.

It's crazy to see how different the perception of Kyrie is on this board vs social media like twitter.

Impact wise, it's probably Draymond but he had a poor year. I'd go with Oladipo.

Can you elaborate on what you mean? I do believe Kyrie's highly regarded among talking heads, especially for his playoff resume. So it's not just fans here or on Twitter.

Flashiness, scoring, and the "Mamba mentality" tend to be overvalued attributes among casual fans, while defense, efficient playmaking, and off ball play are undervalued. If you asked the common fan where Draymond Green ranks in the league I would bet the vast majority wouldn't put him in the top 25. And then similarly, Kobe is an undeniable top 5 player among TV guys and casual watchers, 2001 AI was a top 15 peak of all time, Kyrie is the 7th-8th best player in the league, prime Carmelo was an equal scorer with prime LeBron, Garnett isn't a top 25 player all time, Nash’s MVPs were the most egregious in history, etc.

The level of disrespect for Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson in this board is astonishing.

Personally I think Nikola Jokic is the an absolute unicorn, and imo the best passer in the league. But c'mon, a guy whose played 2 seasons and hasn't touched the playoffs vs a man who hit the game winner in GAME SEVEN of the NBA FINALS?!

Smh, yall are so quick to forget.
