RealGM Top 25 Player Poll-#16 2018-19

Post#1 » by Filthadelphia » Mon Sep 3, 2018 1:35 am

We have debates all the time in various threads over who is better so I thought what better time than summer to see where the General Board lies in its view of the top 25 best players.

I'll update each new poll with the rankings of the last and the percentages of who won.
There's only 10 options per poll so new options will be added as we get lower and lower.

Lets come to a consensus. Feel free to comment who you voted for and why.

If you think someone else should be in the poll who is not there please comment and i'll adjust accordingly.

I would appreciate it if you can state clearly the procedure.

We vote daily(?) the best player among those who are remaining (and in the poll)?
And after each day, you remove said best voted player, list him as the next best player on our bestlist and start a new poll with the remaining players?

From your players I would replace Irving with Embiid

These are the procedures, yes. Every winner will be removed and then a new entrant will be included on the next poll.

Winner of Poll #15: Damian Lillard (POR)-32%

14) Rudy Gobert (UTA)-62%-TIEBREAKER w Kyrie Irving (BOS)
15) Damian Lillard (POR)-32%

Added to Poll: DeMarcus Cousins (GSW)

New System Alert: Vote for who you want in the poll but in order to add new people COMMENT IN THE THREAD.

Al Horford added next,

Hard vote between,
Wall (when he was healthy in the playoffs he proved he is one of the best PGs in NBA, is he better than kyrie though? Last season he wasnt, but with the Cs having so much talent I think JW has more of a chance to make an impact than Kyrie)
Dray (amazing defensively, but defense is only 2/3s as valueble as offense and their are still studs offensively here that a solid defensively)
Kyrie (unstoppable offensively, but truely how good is he alone, a pure scorer? Last season best season of career if he proves to maintain it he definetly deserves to be higher)
Boogie (how good will he be post-injury?)

Personally also I would like to see this expanded to top 30.
If your still getting the votes after 20.
Then like I think you should stretch it to 30 as there is a large talent pool.

Add Lamarcus Aldrige.

This one was between Dray and Kyrie for me, gave the slight edge to Kyrie. Hard to judge Dray in a vacuum, but his role is so important in GS.

Draymond now seems the highest impact guy by a fair bit.

Definitely going with Dray. He's been the glue for that Warriors team for years now. Just a great player.

This is where Kyrie probably makes most sense at this point.

Ok, I give up. Kyrie is the worst player in the league.

You're vastly underrating him. This is a league where Kyle Singler gets playing time. In any case, Kyrie is probably around 15th-18th. I'd put him ahead of Dipo for now, but definitely not Dray or Gobert, and probably not in front of Lillard.

I'm picking Draymond Green. He is an elite offensive talent. Even without Curry, Durant, and Klay, he would magnify and maximize the talent of the guys around around him. His ball movement, screens, block outs, and innate knowledge of what both teams are doing adds lots of points to the offense, whether it is Dray scoring or someone else. Add onto that someone who is consistently a perennial top 3 defender in the league? I have him up a handful of spots from here. It is definitely his turn.

Add LaMarcus Aldridge next.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Don't get how people can vote for Draymond at this point. The guy isn't anywhere near as good as he used to be and if he was in the position where his team needed him to bring it on both ends every night for 82 games it would end badly.

In a few weeks we'll be debating if Kyrie's empty offensive stats really put him ahead of Amir Johnson's superior D and stellar RPM numbers for #322 on the list. In the meantime I'm starting a Go Fund Me for the scores of Real GM users who tragically don't have eyeballs.

These polls lost credibility a long time ago. People take this far too seriously

Giving up on this list, it's gotten terrible. Objectively looking at it, there's clearly a ton of bias in these votes. How the hell does a worse Kyrie Irving get ranked above Kyrie Irving.
