Why Would FAs Go To Knicks over Nets?

With the Irving/Butler/KD talk you always hear about the Knicks but why not the Nets? I get the Knicks have Porzingis but outside of that wouldn't the Nets be the better option especially with the foundation they've built from a coaching and roster standpoint. I think more than any other team so far the Nets have been the surprise of the year. Also even with the whole Billy King debacle you could make an argument that the Nets have been the (slightly)better of the two franchises for the past 20 years.

Prestige.
But neither franchise is getting anything, so it’s a moot point.

They are losing-est franchise this millennium and haven't won a title in 40+ years.
Is it just MSG?

not prestige, mostly that MSG lure and whatever rep NY had back in the day of being a basketball mecca, whatever that means

Pretty much. If I'm going to be in purgatory, give me MSG. Easily the most prestigious venue in north America. Also Knicks have a higher ceiling of exposure and excitement if they ever get good. Having all of New York behind you would be pretty cool. Only downside is the NY media.

The Nets are indeed a better destination than the Knicks at the moment. They're also a more modern franchise that's in tune with the newer generations. The Knicks in comparison are a dinosaur.
Bringing the Knicks back to relevancy would however bring more prestige, way more media attention and more endorsement opportunities.

Location, branding, history, fanbase, etc. Neither franchise is particularly good, but given the two choices it isn't hard to see why general sentiment would favor the Knicks. The Nets are the little brother/step-sibling of New York, that's just the way it is.

Tyson Chandler after the Mavs title too.

Exposure, MSG, endorsements.
thats why i would go to the knicks if both teams are about even. I would say they could be about even, if Knicks had a healthy Porzingis.

Going by names alone, marketing yourself as a star representing New York presents way more opportunities compared to representing Brooklyn.
I doubt anybody significant will sign though.

You could basically say Melo too. And though he was done you could add Noah to the list.

KP is a draw. At press time he has been the best young prospect on either team. Knox may be one as well.
I don't think either team has high prospects for this years FA crop but that's the main basketball reason.

Kp is better than any Nets player by a massive margin. Though even if you sign with the Nets you still get to play Knicks games in front of a Knicks home crowd even in Barclays.

The Knicks have played 53 Christmas Day games! The Lakers even with all those Megastars from Mikan to Lebron have only played 45. Boston with 32.
Let that sink in.

because if you live in new york, the brooklyn hype died real quick and now their gear has just become a clothing style to those from brooklyn.
new york is still a knick town.

Which is why they have had such great success with free agents? And on the court?
I'd take Nets free agents as of late over anyone NY has signed.

He hasn't played game in ages and no one knows when he's coming back. He was also pretty poor outside of the first 11 games or so last year and has been critical of the Knicks. Pretty sure he has to return this year and be good, before any FA factors a fellow FA into their decision.

What if Nets manage to make the playoffs do you think that could sway some players? Also Porzingis's health kind of scares me. Not cause of this particular injury but because of guys his size and more importantly his frame.

The Nets have proven to have much better management and ownership of late along with more stability.
Until Dolan sells the Knicks, his dark cloud will always hover above.
