[Woj] Goodbye Parsons

Post#1 » by VCfor3 » Sun Jan 6, 2019 10:34 pm

EDIT: This is a weird situation. So Parsons was upset that Memphis didn't have a plan to get him back on the court. He said they offered a G league stint but didn't give him a timetable of how long it would be so he turned it down. Memphis apparently just came to him and offered for him to play the 3 game home stand the G league team has and then maybe move him back up with the Grizzlies and he declined. Now they are parting ways.

Could this be the first opportunity for the Sixers to get some shooting on the buyout market?

Parsons will never be medically clear, there's always a new injury to keep him out from playing.

He never should have gotten that contract coming off a serious knee injury. Never the less, sucks that things couldn’t work out for Parsons and the Grizzlies.

They should put Parsons in charge of money management. Because he sure is good at collecting them checks.

I'll never feel bad for someone in Parsons shoes. Give up the money if you want to try and play elsewhere. Otherwise keep collecting your undeserved pay checks in a suit.

Don't understand why Parsons wouldn't just spend a week in the g-league then go back and play with the Grizzlies just so he could get back in the swing of things after missing so much time. He is not "too good" for a rehabilitation week in the after being out so long. You see even superstars in the mlb go down to AAA all the time when coming off an injury

Parsons should thank Morey and the Rockets for picking and developing him.

3 years of service for 1m a year earned him 125m in guaranteed NBA earning. All due to Morey's kindness.

Should do Morey a favor and sign for minimum when this is all done.

Yeah they offered two different times for him to rehab in the G league and he declined. Maybe he doesn't want people finding out he is completely busted and can't play at all as opposed to the little he could before the current injuries. If he could do ANYTHING at all this slumping Grizzlies team could have used him and yet he wasn't even active so that isn't a good sign.

even a former finals MVP in Tony Parker was assigned to the g-league team for works. Some players are simply too proud and don't love the game anyway.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

I don't really understand what's happening here. This article has a lot of detail but seems to contradict the above: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25699385/chandler-parsons-memphis-grizzlies-agree-part-ways

The Griz would be a terror if he was full health and hitting his prime like he would have been. Feel sorry for both sides. I always had high hopes for Parsons.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Isn’t Cousins supposed to play a few games in the g leauge? Who does this alleged druggy think he is? He needs to give up money like Deng did. I doubt small market Grizzlies will pay him like the Knicks stupidly did.

I was just trying to recap the Parsons spin we have had in the media. The story that was put out at that time was that Parsons declined the G league option because there was no set time table on when he'd be put back into the lineup. He wanted a "play X number of games and show you're healthy and we'll move you back up" which isn't an unreasonable request though when you are paid as much as he is with such little production you kinda just do what you're asked I feel like. Parsons instead worked out a plan where he would participate in all the 5 on 5 scrimmages to show his health off that way. From Woj's article, it sounds like Wallace told Parsons that no matter what he did there was no guarantee of him playing again but that Wallace wanted Parsons to play some G league games to prove he could handle himself on the defensive end of the court. The whole situation is ugly.

How can he; our his agent be bitching about going down the g-league? He been collecting checks for years to be injured and to sit at home. Then he write some BS letter to the people Memphis and then he pulls this stunt. God forbid the team tries to bring along slowly so he can rehab and avoid farther injuries. What an ****. I feel for the people of Memphis. They need to relieve BIG from his GM duties, he seems incompetent.
