Pelicans and Celtics seem determined to make Anthony Davis deal this summer

Post#1 » by LakerLegend » Thu Feb 7, 2019 12:07 am

The New Orleans Pelicans have reached out to the Boston Celtics to discuss the framework of a possible Anthony Davis deal to be completed this offseason.

The Pelicans have sought guarantees from the Celtics surrounding specific packages, but Boston has been reluctant to make absolute promises.

The Celtics, however, have made it clear that no specific player will be off limits in negotiations.

Boston continues to have interest in trading for Davis despite reports he has no interest in committing long-term.

I would have named the thread “The Pelicans seemed determined not to take The Lakers garbage offer”. But I guess we’re just debating semantics.

Remember that phone call from Pop to Demps?

Also remember that the entire league thinks LeBron went in through back channels and engineered this for his own benefit. So you know what? If I am the Pelicans and I think that's true I am telling him to go bleep himself too. Nobody messes around with my franchise and gets to benefit from it.

Meanwhile Ainge's stubborn refusal to move any of his rapidly declining assets is about to blow up in his face, so if he's not going to get desperate now he may see his best laid plans implode.

Here's what I am curious about: the Knicks could have a real shot at the #1 pick, they have immense contract space to absorb A.D....it might be the single most valuable asset available to the Pels. And it might bring others in tow in FA.

Not sure why you're attacking the Lakers but I didn't say anything denigrating the Celtics.

I fail to see how this " wait 3 months for us so we can CIRCUMVECT the rules" is not collusion/tampering.

The Lakers years of tanking looking like an abject failure when you pick at #2 3 years in a row, yet when it comes time to consolidate those players to get the superstar those same young players aren't good enough nor show enough potential to get the deal done. What a mess

So basically they want to hear Ainge say there’s a package around Tatum this offseason once the season over. Ainge won’t commit to that right now is all we need to know about all this fluff.

Basically Ainge will come back and say I never specifically said Tatum but just led you to believe that on your own free will cause Davis still hates me

Uh huh. No self interest there.

Players are free to go get an actual job at any time they want. Or they can continue to participate in an exciting spectacle and get the big $$$. It's a choice they make.

I double promise pinky swear to listen to trade offers for Tatum in the off-season.

Utterly meaningless. Boston is going to screw over Pellies who are intent on cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Who else has comparible assets that is looking to trade for him?!

Also ironic to ask why when Kawhi didn't list us and SAS sent him here anyways...good chance spite is a part of both decisions.

There is no tampering.

Celtics are allowed to discuss any trade they want with the Pelicans. They cant execute the trade until the offseason (or unless they add Irving, which obviously they wont) but they are allowed to talk as much as they want.

Your point does not make sense whatsoever. Front offices are allowed to talk. That's 100 percent how deals get made. How is that collusion or tampering? It's when other teams talk to a player directly (or through his agent) who is under contract with another team, that's tampering.

Front offices are the ones giving out the money hence the contracts and it's the player's job to follow the deal he signed. This is basic legal stuff. You sign a contract, you honor the deal you agree to. But fans like to get up all in their feelings that they start to complain about how it's unfair. LOL
