Adam Silver is commissioner in name only why does anyone ask for his opinion anyway? NBA is being run by the players and agents.

Players should have to fulfill 75% of a contract before being allowed to demand a trade, it gives teams a time frame to understand what they have work with, and it gives both sides some sort of framework for when to anticipate something happening.

I'm ok with this rule as long as it works both ways, you can't demand a trade until 75% of the contract, but a team can't trade you until 75% of the contact is over either. There is no reason a rule like this should only go one way.

If you don't want players like AD demanding trades, the cost will have to be that teams like the Clippers can't trade Blake Griffin away either. That's the only way you'd ever get the players to agree to the concept.

"Nobody wants to live in a police state". "Play anthony davis or I'll fine you a take away draft picks."

All the anti Silver sentiment is tired...the guy does a decent job.

Amazing how everyone hated Stern now you have a different style of leader and everyone hates him too. What league commissioner has been good in any sport by that metric?
Rest in peace Kobe & Gianna

Lebron making plans on All Star Weekend.

Lebron: "Anthony Davis, Kyrie, Kawhi, Durant where we going tonight?!"

Towns: "Can I come"

*Lebron looks and sees Towns has 4 years left on his contact"

Lebron: "NO!"

Stern was a much better commissioner.

People hated Stern because he ran a tight ship but it's much better then having the inmates running the asylum. Silver is not looking out for the best interest of fans or league as a whole. It's why viewership is down fans are tired of watching their franchises get destroyed by agents and influencers.

alessandrux wrote:In my opinion there could be a really simplistic way to decrease tampering:
-Tampering teams will have decreased cap space (e.g. 5% less than the 'real' salary cap)
-Tampering players/players deamdn a trade decrease their potential salary (e.g. 5% less than what they were previous qualified for)

sure, how do you enforce it?
the problem with tampering isn't the punishment, but the process and the definition of it.
it's funny that all "free agents" somehow already have contracts lined up at 12:01AM on the first day of free agency. I thought contract talks were against the rule before that day?
and so it's not fine for Magic to say Giannis is a great player, but it is fine for LeBron to have the same agents as Davis and get dinner together and plot things together, as long as it's Magic talk to LeBron and LeBron talk to AD.

Rachel Nichols and Howard Beck just talked about it on Howard's podcast, it is one of the things that is selectively enforced, and the rules barely make sense.

Just make it the wild west and allow anything from player or team regarding commenting on their desire for other players. It's ridiculous to try and hold teams to a different standard than the player given how much power players have in the league. So have it all out in the open and have everything allowed.
