Rare Jordan card sells for 350,000$

Post#1 » by Joshyjess » Fri Feb 22, 2019 7:04 pm

on Ebay one of the rarest Jordan cards ever made, a 1997 Precious Metal Gems Michael Jordan Green Card (only 10 of them were released) just sold for a bit over 350,000$
I think it's at this point where someone is supposed to say "Oh man, I had 3 of those when I was a kid, and my mom threw them away!!!"

That is crazy, though. A brand new, really nice house, or a rare card.

We think spending money to address climate change is not worth it, but this little piece of paper is worth $350,000 because they didn't make very many of them.

Humans, man. Humans.

Hey, I had that one when I was a kid, but my mom through it away!!!

Wow, this time you could either have that card, or you could have 3 really nice houses, and a Stingray Corvette!

Is this one worth $350,000 yet? Pretty sure I have that one.

I was able to get 300 dollars for two Tom Brady rookie cards and I thought I was getting over on the people. It's amazing how such a hobby growing up is now basically worthless, countless rookie cards, memorabilia and what not.

I sold my cards as a teen for a lot of money. I think the reason they are all mostly worthless now is kids started taking care of our stuff too well, comics have the same problem from that time. Well that's ignoring the internet to get a proper value, and the fact that they don't just make more of the cards people want now.

Cards lost their value because once people started selling on the world wide web, everyone realized these companies produced millions of these cards. There is still valuable in limited edition cards, but the majority are a dime a dozen.

It's more that everyone started collecting them in the 90s and 80s and that was when sports cards were booming. The companies were throwing out TONS of products as people were buying them up in droves. Yes kids also took better care of their cards they weren't being tossed out or used very roughly in cases.

But once everyone on the planet goes "Oh man the way to make money is buy a Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card and hold it for 30 years!" that certainly won't be true. This is why sealed video games are starting to become worth huge sums of money because how many kids or even adults buy a video game for their NES back in the day then set it aside and never open it.

Just because it's selling for that much doesn't mean it's worth that much.

In the world of rare collectibles the market sets the price. So if someone is willing to pay that, it's what the .market is. It depends on how rare it is, what it is etc...
