Knicks or lakers

Post#1 » by MagicBagley18 » Mon Apr 8, 2019 9:04 pm

As of today which franchise is less dysfunctional and more stable with a brighter going forward? Just a conversation I had with friends and I really have no dog in the fight either way just curious of other NBA fan’s opinion. Articulate your thoughts if you could or provide your opinion of why.

Why knicks are :
Head coach in place
Top shot at Zion
Emergence of Mitchell Robinson
Considered “front runner” for KD
1 more max spot available for another player

Why lakers are :
Lebrons James
lakers still Play in LA and our the premier in terms of history
Kuzma and Ingram and lonzo with a top 10 pick with an outside shot at Zion
Max salary space to combine a star with Lebron.

Why knicks aren’t :
Ownership...can Dolan stay out of the way? This may be just one reason but it’s a huge reason. Can he keep his ego out of the way and let perry and others do what they were hired to do. This is really the biggest red flag and could be like 3 reasons in itself. Him kicking fans out making dumb comments etc.

Media scrutinity : 2 of the players that are linked to the knicks are kyrie and KD they both have rabbit ears and are known to lash out at media will this play in their decisions? If things don’t go as smoothly how ugly could things get?

Why lakers aren’t :
Inexperienced management in Pelinka and Magic and a year 1 roster construction with Lebron fail.

Constant media leaks with a “perception” right or wrong of not being on the same page in regards to direction.

Currently not a “front runner” for any top free agent....is this true? Media creation? will the lake show surround Lebron with a kyrie or kawhi?

Uncertainty regarding top trade assets at least for this summer : Ingram and his Health? question marks surround lonzo, his dad and ability to stay on the court?

Again, I have ZERO dog in this fight and I think both of these teams being reallly good again would be great for the NBA. Let’s have discussion and intelligent reasoning not back and forth and being disrespectful. This our some of the talking points that come up for and against each time....if you have any other talkings please bring them up.

Let’s hear your opinion!

Should've included the Bulls which is another dysfunctional, garbage organization.

True but wanted to keep it between the teams in 2 of the largest media markets and have been talked about in regards to free agency all year long.

mitchell robinson is better than any of the lakers prospect.

the only one that can rival this is drafting zion, which is impossible because zion will join forces with mitchell robinson.
LOL Y U MAD THO?

mitchell robinson has blocked zion williamson 3 times as of 7/6/19.

Lebron by himself makes us both more dysfunctional and with a brighter future at once.

Of course, the Knicks are the posterboys for dysfunction in the NBA. But by definition, a Lebron James team will never be "stable" so you have to go with that.

The Knicks aren’t dysfunctional any longer.. Mills has the team ran properly. He has a plan, and is sticking by it, doing a great job at it. We have leverage, youth, picks, and a drama free locker room.

Now here to hoping next year at this time Zion, KD, Kyrie, and Mitch are gearing up for the playoff. :D

Lol. How the heck did 10 people actually vote for the Knicks? I mean, sure the lakers are dysfunctional but at least they’ve got Lebron and some half decent talent on their roster. Before they got hit by injuries mid way through the year, they were playing well.

Other than a couple of seasons where they made the playoffs, the Knicks have been a raging dumpster fire for a decade and have nothing other than their annual prayers that a free agent will defy logic and sign there. That’s without even mentioning the fact that they have the worst owner in the NBA.

Knicks don't really have anything except they are in NY making lots of cash.

Little championship history and an owner who is a negative.

Where's the half decent talent?

One thing that makes the Knicks a little better is that it’s easier to make the playoffs in the East. The team currently sitting in the 8th spot in the East is 2 games below .500, in the West that team is 13 games above .500. 15 less wins and you can make it in.

I think the Eastern time zone is a more disirable/visible time to play as well. Just more people watching. Increases your exposure.

The Knicks are the worst team in the league, how they're winning this is beyond me lol. Also, theres like an 85% chance the knicks won't get Zion...

I chose the Lakers because if all things are equal and both teams had the same record, which they dont, the Lakers would still always attract better talents. People just rather play in LA and they are always just a couple moves from being contenders. I've always said this...when people argue why the Knicks are so bad and include all thier ideals of how you build a team the Lakers pretty much mirror the Knicks in terms of policy.

- dont place much value on rookie contract deals
-always look toward the next big FA
-make trades you dont win

From a "this is the right way to build a team" standpoint it's not like they follow a different playbook. But here's the important part. When they do skip steps and do trade youth for the quick fix and do fail to care about draft picks they seemingly always find or attract the right player or at least a guy universally known as a true superstar. And that's the huge difference.

Ya this is a draw. The only difference is the Knicks have a bigger pipe dream (Lakers had it last summer).

I would rather be a Knick fan than a Laker fan right now that's for sure.

I actually agree with your assetment...my thing and you know this better than me but Dolan is like the crazy ex gf who always pops up after she disappears for awhile, that uncertainty always remains tho I hope he doesn’t
