Would Jerry West return to the Lakers?

Post#1 » by PrimeThyme » Wed Apr 10, 2019 1:51 am

This was my immediate thought when I saw the news Magic stepped down. He has done a fantastic job rebuilding the Clippers and has been known to move around. Would he go back?

They would have to pay him an incredible amount, and at this age, West has accomplished all he wants to, so no, I doubt he goes back

Nope.

I believe he wanted a position with them years ago...I don't think it's coincidence he took a job with a team in the same building.

IF the Lakers can use this opportunity to snag West from the Clippers, it would be Magic's last (and maybe greatest) assist.

He's too old to be a president of basketball ops. He's said it himself

Would Jerry West return to the Lakers?

Possible since West’s son still works for the Lakers front office. Maybe his son can get his dad to come back?

West hasn’t even got to the fun part yet of all his advisement. Lakers have been in dumpster mode for years and West has to be loving the chaos. I don’t think West would like dealing with snobby Jeanie either

Jeanie has to bring the Logo back.

If he doesn’t want the President spot then make him a consultant. It’s priority #1 for Jeanie. She has to le the past go and forget about Phil and West issues.

He wants to be part of the Lakers and this is the best shot Jeanie has to bring Lakers back to glory.

Lakers always thinking they could get whoever they want

Guarantee you J-West wants nothing to do with the LeBron or the Lakers. Quote + @ me on this.

...and good luck outbidding Ballmer.

The Ultimate Laker-Clipper War

Post#11 » by Wammy Giveaway » Wed Apr 10, 2019 2:10 am

Lakers are so desperate, they'll look into stealing everything the Clippers have:

1. Jerry West
2. Doc Rivers
3. Their future new home next to The Forum in Inglewood

What next, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander?

The Clippers have transformed into a decent running franchise under West. Doc isn't doing doubletriple duty anymore, Ballmer is only paying and watching, the players are behaving like the Spurs - this is what the Clippers should have been before Donald Sterling bought the team. And now, the Lakers are out to destroy everything West has helped built by getting West from the Clippers.

Money alone won't be enough for the Lakers to get him. They'll need to do a compensation pick and risk a gag order. However, the Clippers just completed a trade with the Lakers for Ivica Zubac in the trade deadline, so if the NBA decrees, they could not be able to trade for West.

But the Lakers will do everything in their power to restore the old status quo of things. I wouldn't be surprised if the Lakers try to sabotage the Clippers in the playoffs for this exact reason.

I would lose respect for West if he did that to the Clips.

Considering all achievements with regards to contribution to everything basketball, Jerry West or Larry Bird might be the GOAT.

According to your logic, Tim Duncan doesn't deserve any respect.

He likes both LeBron and the Lakers.

I can't see West going in the middle of a rebuild with the Clips, depends on the job the Lakers offer, but I think it's unlikely.

If the Lakers offer him a good position, he will come.
It’s just that simple.

West has purple and gold in his blood but the relationship with Jeanie and Phil worries me. Hope they can make it work.

Clippers have a much better situation and way less drama and baggage. Would be a dumb move on his part.
