This clip has been posted before but I couldn't help revisiting it since it seems like every quote Magic gives in this clip turned out to be factually wrong.

**Lakers missed the playoffs.

"I'm gonna get another superstar."
**Was unable to close Anthony Davis deal.

"You think I'm worried about this? I've been in 9 Finals."
**Quit abruptly before the end of the season saying it wasn't fun, he couldn't handle the backstabbing, and that he 'couldn't stand to tell' Jeanie Buss.

"I'm Magic Johnson."
**...okay, he got that right.

I changed it so they can be happy.

This is the one that gets me the most...

I'm tempted to call it cowardice but Magic sat there boasting about his career accomplishments and how nothing fazes him only to crumble what a month later and do so in one of the weakest ways possible?! Come on Magic, you had to be better than that. He not only cut short a promise that he would give it a couple of years and only THEN step down but it was so weak of him to not be able to do so in person (and also not a heads up so the Lakers could try and get sorted before making it official and being caught completely off guard).

I completely understand his frustration with not having full authority and not being able to can Luke AND Pelinka as well but it was just a weak move to fold how he did with the media and not face to face and I'm sorry but if Magic felt confident as he stated here...idc what gossip/dysfunction was happening, he would have stuck around to be able to say he saved the franchise but he knew he wasn't going to get it done so quit to avoid further embarrassment.

Seems like just in general, the higher you are on the GOAT list the less anyone should listen to you on how to run a team.

Larry Bird and Jerry West are actually quite good, they are very high on that list too.

Bird has got to have the most accomplished resume in modern basketball. No one else has a Coach and Executive of the Year.

Edit: Maybe someone else has it but I could have sworn he was the sole owner of a COY and EOY

I'll never get over the fact that an ABA team actually hired Wilt Chamberlain as their head coach.

he shouldn't never been given the job in the first place but it's completely understandable why he quit.

I thought this thread would be about his high praise on Twitter of just about every player before they busted.

Bird has a great resume, indeed, but he fizzled out in the end as an executive. He was pretty bad in his last 2-3 years and he didn't seem like he understood the new era of the NBA (he kept going after iso-heavy players like Monta Ellis). If you ask Pacer fans, some of us have a lot of issues with how he handled the team after 13-14. He was definitely very good before that, though, and he can't be compared at all to the likes of Magic Johnson. Jerry West is also indubitably great.

I know he is the sole owner of MVP, COY, and EOY. Not sure if you take MVP out of the equation though.
