no way, but you know it is not what he wanted heading to a volatile situation where they are on the brink of a full rebuild but stuck in purgatory if him going there makes Griff refuse to trade AD when in fact they should trade him to the highest bidder sending them a legit pg

Is the thinking here that the Knicks are a better franchise than the Pels because I’m not sure that holds up.

Please stop posting. You are just making yourself look bad.Antinomy wrote:skones wrote:Antinomy wrote:

As a fan of a small market team that was awful for nearly two decades, you're being an ass.
Stop with the “smart market” bullsh*t. The Pelicans are an awful franchise that has had CP3 & AD the past decade. That’s more talent than the Bucks have had in the past 30 years besides the last 2 with Giannis.
They’re a badly run franchise that doesn’t care about basketball. A lot would need to change from the top down for them. Anything would be better than being in New Orleans.

It’s only a 2 year guaranteed contract. Last 2 are team options if I remember correctly.

It's okay Zion. NY will still be waiting for you in 2026!
He can sign the qualifying offer after his 4th year to make it 5. Porzingis threaten Knicks with that and got traded. Griffin should focus on getting talents with AD Trade to maximize Zions potential in his prime.
Griffin should focus that Zion does not withdraw this year

Just playing devil's advocate...because it would be very disappointing if he withdrew.
But, he wouldn't have to play in the NCAA again would likely still get millions in a shoe deal.
I do wonder if he stays past the deadline and threatens to sit out and re-enter the draft next year.
Does it work like the NFL?

He's never going to give up all the money he would lose by starting his NBA career a year later.
And a team with a worse situation could very well win the lottery next year.

I didn't say he'd go back to the NCAA.

Sorry misread your post. But he still would get paid. Curious if anyone else has thoughts per the above?

Porzingis is also looking to give up a lot when He sees that New York is not fit for him.

Why in the world would he do that? It would be insanely moronic.
He's about to get the highest rookie contract and some giant shoe deal.
Even if he's never that great his family will be set for life (if not multiple generations)

Ya but wouldn't he still get the same crazy shoe deal? He'd get insane press also for making a statement. I don't think it's right either but it's an interesting question.
He's such a huge brand right now...

Right, because it's not like Milwaukee could have drafted Chris Paul and later on actually turned the player they took over him into Steph Curry, yet it's the Pelicans who were "awful."
New Orleans won 56 games in 07-08 and reached the conference semis in Paul's 3rd season. 46 the next in which Tyson Chandler an important cog on that team missed half the season. 34 the one after that because Paul himself missed half the season. 44 the next when guys were moved as a result. Acting as if New Orleans just made Chris Paul's career there a wasteland is absolutely asinine.

Simply sit out.
I hope it doesn’t happen, but NO had to be worst case scenario for the Williamson camp.

New Orleans maybe a fun city to live in but that city might have least interest in the NBA of all the cities, not exciting for potential superstar.

playing 7 years at NO or having a 25% chance of playing on a good organization/market next year?
7 years in NO that are almost guaranteed to be a disaster. The owner doesn’t give af about basketball. If you have the opportunity to avoid that team, you do it.
Disaster compared to playing for free for the corrupt NCAA and risking further injury?
