R.J Barrett will probably be a bust, but yes the Pelicans should trade Anthony Davis for the Knicks third pick. They still would get Mitchell Robinson(I say the main piece of this trade),and Kevin Knox(he can still develop into a all star if he put in the work).Overall the Knicks have the best package for the Pelicans outside of the Celtics.

I think that would be a damned good haul.
why not ask for DSJ as well and then move Jrue holiday for the best shooter available
DSJ stinks.

This lineup would be straight up trash. Lonzo Ball is trash.Brandon Ingram can't stay healthy and even when healthy,he's still not very good player. Far as the 4th pick is concerned,I'm not impressed enough with Culver,Garland or Hunter to the point I would a a star/Superstar or even a very good starter for that pick. The value in the 4 pick in this draft has the similar value to draft picks 12-14 would be on a average draft class.Massive drop in talent after the top 3 pick(I don't really see R.J Barrett being that good of NBA player, but that's besides the point).

Starting clean with Zion and RJ would be a dream for this franchise after what they went through this past year publicly. I would hate to see the cloud following around AD ruining Zion's rookie campaign. A package built around RJ, Knox and Mitchell Robinson would be a fantastic haul. I'd definitely cheer for these kids! No to DSJ tho lol

You've written off a guy after 2 seasons as trash and Brandon not a very good player... We'll just end the discussion right there.

They definitely should. Zion and RJ with some actual NBA caliber shooters around them will look much better as a duo in college.

It's a bad idea if your goal is to win that season. If your goal is to get a lot of talent that's the same age and on the same contract time line, it's a great idea for the future.
i think the pels have to be attractive immediately. not contenders or even winners, but ATTRACTIVE enough to build on hope and a future, or else this team moves to another city. that means some amount of success. barrett and zion will not provide what they couldn't at duke. we're talking about DUKE,,,KRZYZEWSKI,,,and a massive recruiting class. there's no logic to think zion/barrett will flip the script in the pros as a rookie duo leading a lottery team in the west.

if they were still in college. You're hypothesizing a team built on dreams. This team gets torched for the next 5years

SO If he leaves NOP is basically in the same situation they were when they had AD and couldn’t build a proper contender?
NOP will have multiple assets to around Zion and they can’t miss that opportunity unless AD commit.
Yup.

So, let me get this right, you would welcome the following:
1) A dysfunctional locker room in year 1 - a very important year for Zion
2) Completely isolating the fanbase with more public drama
3) The entire NBA losing respect for the entire front office once it goes bad - which everyone can foresee.
4) Losing AD for nothing instead of acquiring some legit talent on rookie contracts and picks...
There's no way that AD isn't traded. They've gone through way too much and now need to create the best possible environment for Zion to develop in.
Those points are a pretty slanted from the reality of the situation, but sure. Force Anthony Davis' hand.
Walk away from....
35% max (compared to 30%)
7.5% raises (compared to 4.5%)
5 year contract (compared to 4 years)
A core of Jrue Holiday, Zion Williamson, and Himself (+Whomever they net in free-agency)
If I am David Griffin, I am happy to hold out and make him make the decision.
Of course, I wouldn't be opposed to listening to trade offers, but frankly, I would be perfectly happy moving forward with what New Orleans has, if I was the President of Basketball Operations.
Pelicans should take the best deal and move on.

This.
HIs mind has been made up for a while. If you keep him, you're just dragging on the turmoil from last year with another year of rumours and a big question mark in the locker room. If they keep him and decide to trade him at trade deadline, they'll garner a package back that is substationally less in value than what is offered to them this offseason. In no situation is keeping AD when he has decided he doesn't want to play with NO past 2020 a good idea. You'll lose him for nothing and reset the franchise back for years.
If it comes down to it, he'll walk away from the 35% max and 7.5 raises in the 2020 offseason, but that won't happen because Griffin will lose his job if he lets AD go for nothing.

Depends. Are the Lakers cleaning house with their roster? If not, Rondo, Ball, LeBron, Ingram, Kuzma, McGee and Beasley wanna talk
Who would have guessed that Julius Randle was going to shoot better from 3 than Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, and LeBron and that only Kuzma would outshoot him from the free throw line.

Everyone assumes it will be Ja. That's who I'd take. I'm not high on Barrett at all. But you never know.

Memphis hasn’t had an elite wing in their entire existence. They’d be crazy to draft Ja over RJ.

Dan Patrick ....He has as much sources as Skip Bayless, Stephen A Smith, and Chris Broussard.

What makes you think that he hasn't made a decision? The decision was clearly made last year. He has given no indication of any hope that he wants to be in NO. He made his decision, accepted the fierce backlash from fans, other coaches/executives/analysts and is ready to move on. He even made it clear that he will only resign long-term with a select number of teams (LAL, NYK, Mil and LAC). Then, after the LAL trade fell through, he even wanted out so bad that he stated that he'd accept a trade to any of the other 29 teams in the league... but would not sign long-term unless it was one of the main 4.
He has been very clear and his agent re-affirmed it last night. Staying in NO is not even a consideration.
