1) Why would he post a farewell on IG weeks in advance?

2) Wouldn't publicly declaring that he doesn't want to stay with the Sixers be a good way to destroy his negotiating leverage with other teams?

This is a whole lot of nothing. Classic Jimmy Butler troll post.

Philly’s gonna be on the next re-build in five years anyways, so you gotta go all-in now. Embiid’s body won’t likely last him a full career.

Looks like a troll attempt to me.

Butler & Leonard to Clippers or both stay in their respective teams is what will happen

Wtf?! lol

At best this is simply applying pressure on Brand to offer the max. There's no way he's "officially" gone without knowing his market or offers first.

If Jimmy moves to another team... he's just the biggest jerk ever. He's never happy and what haven't they tried to do for him.

Renounce all restricted FA's.

Get Zion with 1st. And use both 2nd rounders on Luguentz Dort and Miye Oni.

Then stretch Solomon Hill.

Let Randle go.

Sign Jimmy Butler to max or whatever they can give him. And round out the roster with the best and cheapest shooters available.

Jrue Holiday/E'twaun Moore/Jimmy Butler/Zion Wiiliamson/Anthony Davis
This exactly what I did in 2K recently and it's such a fun and insanely defensively strong team lol.

Lot of ways to interpret this, wouldn't say ruling out the team is one of them. Even if he wanted out he'd still want the perception of returning there as a negotiation ploy for other teams.

I think the most straight forward way to interpret this is that he enjoyed his time in Philadelphia. Feeling was mutual I think. We'll see how the summer goes.

I do not take his post as he's leaving in the slightest lol. That said I hope he does. He needs/I want him to be the superstar of a team.

Butler is one of the only main FA’s who I don’t think is a risk going somewhere else. That’s of course assuming he’s offered the max.

Jimmy’s just trying to get the spotlight because he knows people will be talking about the top tier FAs like KD, Kyrie and Kawhi once the season is over.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

I mean, he does seem like a dude who's never really happy, but him going to another team doesn't make him the biggest jerk ever. He's a FA, if he wants to go somewhere else, that's his prerogative and maybe he can make more money on another team because Philly may not want to pay him the max? Lots goes into why a guy moves from one team to another.

Its a pretty simple scenario for both Tobias and Jimmy. Off the max they stay, offer less than that THEY GONE

When will Portland have some capspace? They desperately need a Butler kind of guy

Hell, Houston too.

Meh, if he goes then they keep Tobias and he has an expanded role. Not a big difference either way.

Philly's fate as a true contender rests on the shoulders of Ben Simmons. Simmons needs to develop a reliable outside shot. Until that happens, Philly is more of a pretender.

Rumor around the league is that he wants to go to the Lakers, but is open to Brooklyn.

Agree.

He has been good with the Sixers but that offence is not to everyone’s liking. They gave him the ball in the playoffs but he did a fair bit of standing in the corner before then.

Brown will rightly have to convince him that he will play a bigger role going forward. And obviously, we will have to max him.

I mean whatever there will be other options. I am not sweating it. Ideally we sign one of Butler or Harris then a true max guy but we will see.

I'd personally prefer more shooting. Harris has a tendency to disappear. Hell it's not even certain he will get the max.
