Replace kd with ____ and it makes warriors better

Its no secret that the warriors are on a 29 - 1 run without KD. I think this is a testament to durants iso ways taking away from the free flowing offence and steph curry in particular.

This raises the question, which player would you add in place of KD that would make them better than with KD. Fit is important here.

No brainers imo - kawhi, lebron, giannis, anthony davis

Likely better - Rudy gobert, embidd (healthy)

Lebron is debatable since he is ball dominant and would limit Draymond's touches.

A defensive C who can screen and roll and finish hard or catch and shoot.

I would say Anthony Davis would basically replace Looney's role but have no weaknesses. That team would be significantly better than the current Warriors with KD, especially with the extra possessions they would get from AD's defense and rebounding. Embiid can also play that role very well.

Lebron would make them worse since he wants the ball in his hands all the time and doesn't do great work off the ball, doesn't shoot 3s nearly as well, and doesn't put in effort on defense.

Lebron is one of very few who has the "talent" to make them a completely non functioning team.

Larry Bird. Not as good on defense but Higher Iq and will punish teams with his passing and vision and can also shoot the ball well. KD's only weakness is Iq issues and playmaking.

I don't think there is any other player in the NBA that would be a better fit than KD on the dubs. Obviously Kawhi would be tremendous asset in their system, but I don't think he'd be a better fit than KD.

Aside from Kawhi, I think some other players who would do extremely well in GS are AD, KAT, and PG.

LeBron wouldn't be a better fit than KD nor would he make them better than they are now. He'd actually make them worse, because he'd take the ball out of draymond's hands (and Dray can't be relegated to a corner 3pt shooter because he can't shoot) and LeBron is not a better shooter or iso scorer than KD. Oh and LeBron plays absolutely NO D.
