Where's the Shawn Marion/Iggy type of this generation?
Title says it all. I dont see any younger player in the league that's that type of player which is kind of sad. Especially when Iggy retires. I love the hard nosed defender that seems to come up big in key moments of the game.

Draymonds a lot in that mold.
But a lessor name but not as talented would be PJ Tucker

Incredible defender with (somewhat) suspect (but still very good) offense and the potential to become a borderline multiple all-star?
Jonathan Isaac would be my guess, although it is very soon into his career and he has the potential to become even better.

They learned how to actually score and became Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

Ben Simmons once he gives up the point guard experiment.

Tucker. But I dont see any from future generations since defense is not important in this era.
Even if they had the capability, they would probably exert their effort on offense to make more money.

Lamelo will be a future superstar Bull. Book it. Lavar for president!

Re: Where's the Shawn Marion/Iggy type of this generation?
There won’t be another Shawn Marion.
The closest comparison was Batum but he fell off the planet of the earth, became an awful defender and can’t even score 2 points.
Covington isn’t even close. He’s just a good 3 & D player. Marion wasn’t even a 3 and D player more so a scorer and defender player with awesome rebounding.
The comparison of Draymond doesn’t really work either because he’s a way worse scorer, can’t create for himself but is a better playmaker too so not that similar.
The closest comp in the league is PG but he’s turned into a much better player than Marion ever was on the offensive side of the court.
Paul George or Draymond probably the closest you can get as a comparison.
Lol at people saying Tucker .. have you ever even watched Marion play?

From a defensive and 3 point shooting aspect yes.
Rebounding and scoring not even remotely close.
PJ Tucker’s best even season on offense was
9.4 points
6.5 rebounds
1.7 assists
1.4 steals
on 43/39/78 shooting.
Marion had 17 seasons better than Tucker’s best ever season including a
21.8 points
11.8 rebounds
1.8 assists
2.0 steals
1.7 blocks
on 53/33/81 shooting

It's hard to say because both of those guys were feature guys who eventually settled into the role of being a defensive stopper and being able to be relied upon in key moments as their careers progressed.
Draymond would be the obvious answer - though he was never featured to the extent Marion/Iggy were. I can see someone like Middleton settling into this role?

There isn't a Marion. ATG fantasy player. Simmons is kind of like Iguodala.
Isaac's play style reminds me more of Kirilenko.

don't know about the odds, but hoping that Zhaire Smith can translate his athleticism into elite D along with hops around the rim and a shot from the arc. probably miraculous that the kid just got back on the court after what he went through.

Imagine if Jimmy Butler went to the dubs and played this role. 10 peat. He'd never tho. I do think he's a B that thinks he's an A though.
Woj is the new Bucher. Shams is the new Woj. Espn is the new TMZ. The NBA is the new WWE.

It should be Ben Simmons but he's still pretending to be better than he is I guess.

I was gonna say the same thing. Has a long way to go though.

Simmons takes 12 shots per game. All high %. Plays great D and passes the ball.
People just bang on about his jump shot so that he can be a star. Which isn’t happening.
He is exactly a glue guy.....it’s just everyones expectations that are out of whack.
