you are missing that kyrie and tobias will sign short of their full max.

Any source indicates that they would?

common sense

Why would it be common sense that two big FA's leave money on the table to sign for a below-average team in a below-average city?

And whether or not he's playing as the best player on a team or the 2nd best, he's going to have a leadership role.

Again, as i said before good for the nets. I have nothing against them, and neither should any Celtics fan. But Kyrie's got a ton of downside no matter how you slice it.

there is 0 risk or downside to kyrie outside of his injury history.

kyrie never lied, he was straight up with ainge. all that talk was him doing the celtics a solid so that his impending free agency wouldnt be a distraction.

its going to keep coming out just how big of a cancer rozier and brown are and how big an egomaniac tatum is... its why ainge is willing to deal them for a rental of AD knowing AD will leave... cause he knows he cant build around those 3

Well, I just can't believe he was straight up with Ainge. Ainge isn't an idiot. He's been saying all year until now that Kyrie would re-sign long term, and he'd have no reason to keep doubling down on that if he wasn't very confident in what he was saying. Now he looks like a fool.

ainge knew the whole time... its all a dog and pony show

Very interested to see if Kyrie can get an actual fan base to develop in Brooklyn. That would be big for the league.

Kyrie/Dinwiddie
DLo/Levert
Joe Harris/Prince
Tobias Harris/Pick 27
Jarrett Allen/Ed Davis/ Pick 31

edit: if they sign Tobi I believe the law states they must also sign Bobi, so add Boban to that roster

Swept in 3

That team wouldn't even make the playoffs in the healthy west

The Nets won 42 games with LeVert and Dinwiddie on the shelf for a good portion of the season. You add two max free agents to the team you don't think they can break 50 games? LOL alright buddy.

"Max Free Agent"

Just because some GM is dumb enough to pay the likes of Tobias Harris and Kyrie max dollars, it does not mean they are capable of carrying a team to the postseason in the West.

That team would get stomped by the 1-4 seeds in both conferences

Hmm, Nets don't have much on the books (around $25-30m) but Russell's cap hold will be like $21m and Irving and Harris would be getting $32m-ish maxes. That's putting them a little up over the cap at best (not factoring in other cap holds), so it might not work that easily. Missing something?

They have about 46M cap space with Dlo cap hold. But to some Nets fans it's common sense that Irving and Tobias would give up 10M each so they could keep Diwiddie, Joe Harris and all the picks. I don't know but I would like to see how it plays out.

If the Nets choose to keep Russell along with max free agents, Dinwiddie is gone.

I would not be surprised if Marks trades Dinwiddie AND doesn't keep Dlo. So far rumors still say that they're all in on KD. And they're still $3-4M short to offer him the max (assume Irving takes no discount). Instead of salary dumping the late first round pick and second round pick, trading Dinwiddie would give him a lot more flexibility in roster construction.

Nets have bad fan support. Competitive team with bottom three attendance is unacceptable

Knicks would be better

Wouldn’t go for Harris, definitely keep DLo, sign Irving.

3 other options in order

Sign Mirotic for 4 years - 60 mil
Sign Aminu
Sign JaMychal Green

if durant comes dinwiddie stays.

dont rule out durant taking less on a 1 + 1 deal with the nets while he rehabs. allows nets to keep russell and kd gets his max deal 1 year later

Thats a very bad take. Kyrie, Dlo, and Harris are 3 pretty good pieces. Levert is a stud, deep bench, tons of shooting. Thats a really good team.

Harris at 4 years - 70-80 Mil would be good, everything more will turn out to be a huge mistake.

If you wouldn’t sign Mirotic for the minimum I don’t know what to say to you...

The difference between Harris and Mirotic surely isn’t a big one in a vacuum, other than Harris playing more minutes, which would be a shame, since I want to see more playing time for Kurucs at the 4.

All I’ll say is what a complete and utter weirdo Kyrie is if he burnt bridges with LeBron/Cavs and then Boston all so he can play for a middle of the road Nets team.

Even then it's pretty piss poor -- especially when you look at the population of NY Metro and say the Knicks have fans. Brooklyn alone has ~2.5 mil.

Lol.

The 76ers with butler, embodied and Simmons were 51 wins.

Kyrie and Tobias is about 44 wins. Lol.

Paying max dollars might be overvalue for Tobias, but that doesn't suddenly make him crap. You're crazy if you truly believe that team would struggle this much. It's a massively improved version of this year's 42 wins Nets team, and that's not considering the improvements to Nets' young players.
