That’s still a very good team don’t you think?

Plus now with Irving gone they can spend that money on some role players and they won’t have the drama they had this year

The East landscape has changed dramatically since then. Though, given that Butler, Kawhi, Middleton, Lopez, Brogdon are FA's this season it could all change again in a heartbeat once more.

Tank for the next Zion. Lmao. Keep hording picks and prospects, watch them under develop and not meet expectations while they lose all trade value. Rinse and repeat.

They will need to do some astute drafting as well some luck in the trade or free agency market, when a player of Kawhi's caliber shows up. I see them recruiting Giannis with 2 years left on his contract, and look towards Houston if they decide to blow it up and Harden is up for grabs. They have very good surrounding pieces with Tatum as the potential second star, with Brown, Smart and potentially Rozier being above replacement level players, patience is what they need right now

Where? Weak picks and a regressed Tatum foh

Tatum in the long term is likely to pan out, just a year ago he was favoured above Mitchell and Simmons to be the superior player in the rookie class and I don't think our perception on Tatum should deviate much from last year's verdict, 2018/19 was a lost year for the Celtics, so we shouldn't put much weight on that matter as we've seen prospect's progress stagnated from reduced roles and a turbulent locker room. There is a lack of premium assets with the Memphis pick and Brown being borderline high value resources, but they have a plethora of picks and moveable contracts, which they could then trade when the opportunity for a superstar opens up in the next couple years as I do not see the trend of relocating superstars ceasing.

Tatum and Brown are the new Derozan and Lowry. Change my Mind.

So we will trade Tatum eventually and get the new “Kawhi” and win a championship?

Celtics will be going to the worst place you can be in the NBA...a mediocre team that is 5th, 6th seed and eliminated in the first or second round of the playoffs each year. That and they can look up in the rafters and say we are a championship organization because of all those banners from 50 years ago !!

Most important thing to me is: What are they going to do with the contract extensions for Rozier and (next summer) Jaylen Brown.

Because if they do that, they are tied in a not so wonderfull cap space situation (with also Hayward, Smart, ...) for a lot of mediocre players.

Celtics only have 15 mill under the cap this year and that's without Rozier cap hold...I would assume they would resign him for 8-10 mill per season, which means they will have around 7 mill to spend. Not going to get you a stud player.

They passed up on:

PG
Butler
Kawhi (the most egregious and Celtic fans defended this loool)

Didn't offer enough for AD

I truly don't know where they go from here. They are the Raptors son.

PG and Butler aren’t franchise changers. Nobody cares about them. Kawhi was definitely a miss. If reports are true than it only required Jaylen to make that deal, then yes, you can’t defend that one. The AD move made absolutely no sense for Boston as Rich Paul warned Boston what would happen. In that case, you hold onto Tatum.

Rozier
Tatum
Jaylen
Gordon
Horford

Let this group see what they can do and go from there. And hope the Grizz pick hits.

Also wait and see what happens with Beal. If he comes available, then Jaylen wouldn’t be a bad offer.

Well maybe we can flip one for a top 3 player one day to pair with the other and win a title.

The Capela trade that was rumoured doesn't sound bad (Horford for Capela fits both teams timelines).

Find a suitor for Hayward as well if you can.

don't blow your load on paying Rozier a big money contract, no good can come from that.

So imagine if a year ago someone told you that Raptors would win a championship and Celts would be "done"

This is akin to, as an analogy—saying a workplace culture/environment has no moral obligation because the bottom-line is always profit (and people don't matter).

I say, Celtics showed poor "workplace culture" in that instant.

If I was a player, I wouldn't want to work there after that—what's stopping them from doing that to me?

Wasn’t any different to what happened with Demar Derozan.

Are the Celtics meant to just keep Thomas forever because he played right after his sister died?

Yea, but this kind of thing is generally not something you want to miss on
