Do you think Rob Pelinka even realized he needed to re-do the trade for extra cap? Or only after the internet did?

Wouldn’t be surprised at all if it’s the second one. He’s completely clueless.

Can please someone explain it to me as if I'm 5 years old, why our cap space changes in accordance with the date of the completion of Davis trade?

They knew this when the deal was done. Why do people keep acting like this is news. Pelinka is the guy who cleared up cap space so LA could get Lebron + max in the first place

You do understand he is an attorney and has a huge staff to work and understand contracts, right? Stop getting led into the dark by WOJ.

I think its probably more likely that the trade was agreed to in principal with the idea that they'd continue to work to expand or modify it so that the Lakers could have a max slot open. It probably just leaked before then and kinda put both FO's in a corner.
We know for a fact that both teams have definitely not been air-tight when it comes to these things.

Lakers fans war on Woj is easily a Top 5 Most Cringy subplot of the past 10 offseasons.

I'm a Raps fan, WOJ is trash to me. But I just find it odd that Pelinka is now trying to re-do the trade, for that extra cap.

In case you accidentally clicked into this thread while in the midst of F5 offseason browsing, the questions are in the title, friend.

No, the media is playing you for clicks by stating the obvious.
The fact that you actually think a professional team doesn't have a team of cap analysts that would tell him beforehand is more indicative of falling for media clicks.

The whole reason Pelinka was even hired in the first place is because he is a salary cap/cba expert. Of course he knew.

Even if that's the case, that doesn't change the fact that Laker fans getting absolutely butt hurt about Woj accurately describing their current cap situation if no additional moves are made is laughable and downright embarrassing.

Rob Pelinka is the dumbest GM in the NBA and it's not even close. First of all he traded away a potential all star in Brandon Ingram and a decent point guard in Lonzo Ball,5 1st round picks for a 1 year rental in Anthony Davis.Second of all he has no idea how the salary cap works. Third of all,he's pretending as if any team would take players like MO Wagner and those other scrubs that the Lakers are offering to clear cap space. Even the Kings front office back in the 2015/2016 season wasn't nearly as incompetent and as desperate as the LA Lakers front office is right now.
