Better team next season: Jazz or Nuggets?

Post#1 » by Cyrusman122000 » Sun Jul 7, 2019 5:23 pm

Very excited to see these two teams next year and I think either one of them has a chance to make the finals

Who do you think is a better team?

The Jazz are going to be the Nuggets of last year. A very good regular season team that will be the 1 or 2 seed in the west that doesn't have enough firepower to make the finals. The Jazz probably don't make it out of the second round. Still several teams like the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors and Rockets that have more firepower than the Jazz have.

Jazz for sure. Nuggets may win a couple extra games in regular season, but far less formidable come playoff time. Jokic is the best player on either team individually probably, but the Jazz are just freaking stacked.

I see the opposite. The Nuggets don't scare people in the playoffs as much. The Jazz will be REALLY scary by the time the playoffs roll around if healthy.

Gobert and Mitchell need to take another step forward next year, but with the support and spacing they'll have on the floor this year, they don't have an excuse not to.

Look for Mitchell to average over 25 ppg. Look for Rudy to lead the league in dunks again. Look for the Jazz's offense to be in the top 5 - 8 now that they have guys who can make shots. Look for Conley to take a lesser role and average about 17 and 7.

Both teams should be top four in my estimation. Utah had a very productive off-season, while Denver is bringing everyone back. I tend to favor the teams who have been together and have good chemistry in place, so I give Denver a slight edge. I would not be surprised if both teams win 53-55 games this upcoming season.

Good post. This is why I have Denver winning 2-4 more games in the regular season. I DO NOT want to see the Jazz though come playoff time if healthy and gelled more. They just are built to lock down teams defensively and counter a lot of scorers. Even IF the Clips would beat them, you don't leave that serious unscathed.

Overall I think the Jazz will have a better record but they're going to get out to a slow-ish start. It'll be close though.

Utah, Denver, Portland are all very close. In terms of who finishes with a better record, I think it'll come down to health.

I voted for Nuggets, but I must confess that right now Utah Jazz is a little bit better team after all these offseason changes where they add Conley and Bojan Bogdanovic but save all their best pieces in Gobert, Mitchell, Ingles, and coach Snyder.

But the reason why I voted for the Nuggets, except I'm a big fan of this team, is a much bigger room for young Denver team to improve than Jazz! In Utah, I see improvement of the Donovan Mitchell, while all other important players are already in their prime years. Jamal Murray, which is BTW younger than Mitchell, should have a breakthrough year. He already steps on next level previous season but lacks the consistency to show it every night. Jokic even doesn't need real improvement, just to repeat his own level from the playoff. Denver have rookie Michael Porter Junior as potential X-factor, and two guys from the bench which make Denver roster look so deep, Monte Morris and Malik Beasley should continue to improve, and in the best case scenario even youngsters Bol Bol and Jarred Vanderbilt can contribute, while Trey Lyles and Juancho Hernangomez which have some positive flashes in the past can rebirth their career. And also, Denver has some room to improve his weak SF spot until the trade deadline, while Jazz already makes changes close to their limits this summer.

So Utah is set to be better in October, but after All-Star break I see Nuggets as a better team this season.

The Jazz. The Nuggets may have a better offense, but the Jazz have a way better defense and they offense have improved a lot during this off season. Both teams have good roster depth, however the Jazz have better roster depth. The Jazz have better defensive players, but the Nuggets however do have better 3pt shooters. I could also easily Rudy Gobert outplaying Jokic in a 7 game series(unless Jokic improves his game some more) and I think Quin Snyder is the better coach compared to Mike Malone.T Overall I both teams will win around/over 55 games next season, but I give the edge to the Jazz.

Jazz are the shiny new toy because they’ve made some moves, but they still don’t have a superstar on Jokic’s level who’s going to be even better than he was last season as will most of their extremely young core. Also, Gobert’s next good playoff series will be his first.

Nugs. Best player, more continuity, had a better record last season and are still young, and - I think, most relevantly - built to sustain injuries better.

They will be much better, but still no real superstars. Mitchell is a good player, but hasn't entered his prime and was a disaster shooting the ball against the Rockets. He will really have to take the next step if they are going to be a finals threat. Conley is a good player, but not a star player. Gobert might be the best defensive player currently in the game, but not a serious scoring threat. Bogdanovic will give them more scoring and that will help.

I just see a team with several good players, but no great players. I still don't see them being able to take down the better teams inthe west unless Mitchell really pops next year.

Mitchell makes 3rd year leap+Conley and Bojan are 20 ppg guys you are adding.
