Nothin but Nets
I've been a regular Boston ball-breaker over the last couple years, and that probably won't change. For now however I will direct my attention to another division foe: the Brooklyn Nets
Last season, 12 Brooklyn Nets played 900+ minutes. Their on/off numbers were as follows:
Ed Davis - +6.7
DeMarre Carroll - +3.8
Jared Dudley - +2.4
Shabazz Napier - +1.5
D'Angelo Russell - +0.7
Rondae Hollis Jefferson - +0.7
Caris Levert - +0.3
Rodions Kurucs - -1.2
Allen Crabbe - -1.7
Joe Harris - -4.0
Jarrett Allen - -5.0
Spencer Dinwiddie - -5.5
I've bolded the names of the players they kept this offseason. Adding Kevin Durant changes A LOT, obviously, but are the additions of Kyrie/DeAndre/Garrett Temple/Wilson Chandler enough to crack the playoffs in 19-20? Either way, we shouldn't act like they are the same playoff team that upgraded D'Lo to Kyrie. This is a very different team.

Levert is back and their young guys will take a step forward, they'll make it, the East is still trash.

Joe Harris led the league in 3pt% last year.

When they lost Dudley to the lakers, it was clear their reign was over before it even began.

Re: Nothin but Nets
Oh my, what would the Nets do without the likes of vet minimum players like Treveon Graham, RHJ, and Napier...
Only thing this thread proves is that net court is a garbage, misleading stat.

The bold names were the starters, mostly going up against the opponents best players.
On/off is a bit unfair in that regard.

Re: Nothin but Nets
It should be said that not only do they have Kyrie but a healthy caris this year as well. Nets expect big things from Caris.

Dinwiddie came off the bench and Kurucs was a part-time starter, but there is an element of truth to what you're saying.

In other words, the Nets starting 5 played poorly against opposing starting units which means they won regular season with depth and will get wiped out in the playoffs when rotations tighten up and shorten?

Re: Nothin but Nets
Let’s accept it, the Nets are a lottery team now by losing Crabbe, Napier, Dudley, Graham, RHJ, DMC, Davis & D’lo... should’ve traded LeVert, Dinwiddie, Allen, Harris & Kurucs instead. What an incompetent FO! tsk tsk...

I normally agree with you but like others have said, I'm not sure what this proves? Hell, RHJ was out of the rotation by the end of the year and I think Napier was also?
Praying for Burrow

Somewhat, the starters and the bench were of similar ability, however, the starters are younger and more likely to imrpove.
Now the starters of last season will mostly be bench players of this season. Caris and Harris will remain as the starters.

I'll put it in terms of Net Rtg rather than on/off. Caris Levert at +0.1 is the only player with a positive Net Rtg to survive the offseason. Every other player was firmly outscored while on the court. People may downplay the significance of that, but they shouldn't.
