Stupid question.

He's still young. Hell no! But if he is serious about coming back, he needs to have surgery, heal up, and then really lose some weight and get in rock star shape. Diet will be crucial. These injuries will slow him down and he will never be the same, but if he takes his rehab, PT, and diet seriously, he can still be a NBA player.

All that said, he should have a MRI of his spine ASAP. A few years ago I kept tearing muscles on the left side of my body and the doctors could not figure out why. I ended up having an MRI and I had a benign (non cancerous) tumor in my spine at L5. The tumor was pushing on my spinal cord causing weakness on the left side of my lower body. They removed the tumor and I'm back to normal. Scary, but could have been much worse.

Cousins has more skill than athletic ability and really always has. Guys with his skill can stay in the league. He need to take a full year off, focus on weight loss, and make a move in 2020 or 2021 to come back. it takes years to recover from these types of injuries, not months. This is why that injury was so concerning when it happened and why it was crazy that people thought he was going to be a major factor on the warriors and why it was crazy people thought he was going to be a big deal for the lakers.

Needs 2 years at least.

He needs to do what he should have done after the achilles. Sit out a year and just work on strength and flexibility training. He came back too soon without properly strengthening the lower body parts giving him trouble. That led to injury after injury. That's why I was so glad to see KP just sit the full year and get healthy.

Didn’t Cousins get the memo from Klay? Once tearing your ACL, you’ll return “more athletic than before”

I doubt he ever comes back as a above average player. Achilles injury zapped him of explosiveness and the ACL should limmit his mobility.
Some people keep saying he is only 29 as if pro basketball players play untill they are 70. Wake up people players retire in their mid 30s if they were really, really good. Rest of the folks are out when they hit 32.

I think the NBA won't give him a choice in the matter.

I wouldn't blame the guy for not wanting to undergo the whole rehab regime for another serious injury.

Cousins needs to take the whole year off. Comeback and put it all on the line one more time. He's too young to retire. And this was an injury he sustained through a physical contact. Had he suffered another non-contact injury, I would be worried.

He needs to skip the entire year and re-evaluate next offseason if he's done rehab. Don't rush back. When he does come back, he needs to be willing to accept any role he can get. He might even need to play in the GLeague to prove he's healthy enough to play.

This is pretty ridiculous if he can accept a lesser role he is still a valuable player in the league. Now if he is the type of guy that must be a starter on any team he plays on, and demands minutes if he is healthy then perhaps you could argue he should retire.

freak injuries, he was healthy the front part of his career, derrick rose has recently shown us never give up , u never know whats around the next corner for your career. the most shocking thing for me is its all these current & former golden state players having these leg and knee injuries , its rare players get these injuries during summer workouts though, hope he recovers

For a pro athlete in his prime it should be around 6-9 months though complications could happen (see Brandon Knight for example). They are going to put nails in his knee and things like that always has a potential of going wrong (again see Kyrie Irving's case). Klay is pushing for that 6 months timeline and that's the absolute optimal case.

For Boogie, this late in the off season, and it's not like he tore his ACL while his body was 100%, I say Cousins is out for the entire 19-20 regular season. It will be a miracle for him to come back in April and crack the Lakers playoff rotation.

He should have took last season off I thought his agent was going to advise that. He would have been ready to go this upcoming year for sure. He tried to get that freebie ring but that decision ended up backfiring in a major way. His agent did not have his best intrest in mind by allowing him to play but anything for a buck/ring i guess.

He just turned 29, I think he's got at least one more run left in him but doubt he's ever the same player again unfortunately.

Imagine living in a world where there are people who think someone who’s earned 90 million dollars over 9 years hasn’t gotten a “major payday” yet. So sad
