What player makes the most Siakam-like jump in 2019-2020

Meaning, what player goes from relative obscurity (7.3 ppg for Siakam in 2017-18) to full-blown breakout (16.9 ppg in 2018-19)?
My pick is Jonathan Isaac, as he improved a bit from his rookie year, but has all the tools to make a major breakout in 2019-2020. I also love the fact that he put on a bunch of weight this summer to prepare for the rigors of the season.
Who's a big breakout candidate for you this season?

Dejounte Murray, he's going to be the next late Spurs pick that becomes an all-star level player.

I do love Murray this year, but it's a challenge coming back from an ACL and trusting one's body again, just for that first year back. I think he's a post-hype sleeper in 2020-2021 and has a big breakout then.

Two good choices thus far. Isaac first came to mind when I read the OP, and I like Murray later in the year / next season. Give him some time to get his legs back.
He may be a stretch for this topic (since he’s kind of on everyone’s radar already), but JJJ could make the jump from 13/4 to 18/9 this season. If he and Morant can cop some wins, I think JJJ gets some recognition as a breakout-type player.

Agreed.
Derrick White this year,Dejounte Murray in 2021,Lonnie Walker IV in 2022,Samanic in 2023 (cause we need a bigman) and then#6!

Agree about Jonathan Isaac.
Another one is Domantas Sabonis.

Different kind of jump but not less impressive will be Luka Doncic - jumping from about 30th in the league to the top 10

JJJ is going to be an absolute beast. He’s got it all

Yeah I can see Isaac being a DPOY potential player and his jumper is smooth mechanically.

Right now my gut tells me it's Fultz or Rozier because nobody including myself expects that to happen.
But the reality is the best odds are it's Siakim's teammate OG Anunoby

JJJ really flew under the radar compared to the other top rookies last season. I like his potential better than Ayton or Bagley myself.

Bagley will make that seeming jump.
I think it’s rare a player’s skill changes that dramatically from on year to the next. So the seemingly dramatic change typically is a confluence of 3 factors: skill development, increase in minutes, changing surroundings to facilitate his emergence. You saw all three of these items last year with Fox and Siakim.
Siakim went from 20 to 31 minutes, Leonard come into the mix, and his skill improved. Fox went from 27 to 31 minutes, team switched to high pace, his shooting improved.
If a player is already playing 30 plus minutes a night it is rare they will make a Siakim type jump.
Shai, Jaren, Marvin and Wendell all played 26 minutes or less for rookies. Isaac, Allen, Derrick White for 2nd year players. So your player is likely will come from that list.
Next what changed to open things up for those players: Shai might be a possibility but Chris Paul is a bit in his way. White has Murray coming back. In Marvin’s case, changing WCS to Dedmon opens up the paint where Marvin showed in World Cup training he can be dominant.
Lastly is skill development. Bagley came in as one of the least skilled rookies in the game. Extremely left hand dominant, average shooter. Bagley was showing improvement during the season. From accounts at World Cup training and Rico Hines runs he has addressed some limitations. The question for him will be passing and defense.

The increase in minutes make sense for JJJ. Do you see the changes playing to his strength (Gasol being gone) or will he get more defensive focus now hindering him? Where do you see his skill changes occurring?

I think they will want JJJ to get a bit more defensive, as JV is not the best there. JV is a beast offensively.
I love the Memphis lineup, Morant, JJJ, JV.... a big frontcourt with a great PG that can distribute and score.

That makes sense but if JV and Ja take a lot of JJ’s touches it’s going to be hard for him to score enough to be seen as a Siakim. He has to be a second option I think.

I don’t think anybody does. What Siakam did is incredibly rare, don’t see it happening again next year
