Everyone knows about his push-off in 98 to hit the game winning shot. But what about his trip of Stockton to win in 97?

Intentional?

It doesn't look intentional to me, Jordan was in the air and passed the ball to his right, Stockon's left knee hits the bottom of Jordan's right shoe causing Jordan's right leg to swing out abnormally. Even if it didn't happen, I doubt Stockton would have blocked the shot but he would have been one step closer to Kerr, who I think still would have shot in rhythm.

Dude Stockton ran into him.... but Illuminati!

If that was actually intentional it's more proof he's the GOAT anyways :D

Wouldn't make a difference. Kerr was already squared up and in motion, even without Stockton's stumble I don't think he would've contested. The BIG play this game was the no call on Scottie hanging on the rim @ 2:09:50:

Not as big as the Jazz losing 5 points to timing errors in G6 of '98.

If you watch that game back, they incorrectly lose a 2pt basket and a 3pt basket during the 1st half. One was at the end of a quarter, that got waived off, and the other was a 24 second violation. Two things that would have been corrected today.

Granted you could probably find stuff like that in every playoff series before replay. Shouldn't change the result. It was 20+ years ago, who cares.

Considering Jordan got obviously fouled right before that and it wasn't called I'd say it's a wash.

Question OP should be asking is why Stockton left his man in the first place?

There is no 'getting back to his man' if he just stayed on his assignment. Stupid move.

Getting GOAT'd either way.

Meh - if I'm the Jazz I'd rather lose like that than watching MJ cook someone 1 on 1 with no help.

Looked like a one legged mule kick to Stockton's balls.

Now we are going back 22 years for non-issues. Cool.

On the one hand that's a good point but on the other this is Michael Jordan we're talking about. One of the greatest clutch shooters of all time, so it was smart to try to get as much pressure on that potential game winner as possible. Nobody expected Jordan to hit Steve with that pass which is why it was brilliantly planned out by the two of them during that time out.

Also - remember that this happened to them in game 1:

I don't blame them for trying force someone else to beat them.

And, since it was Stockton, you can be sure that at no point was the favor returned.

Oh, I remember the John Hipcheck to El Bow combo as well as the pick and roll.

Stockton must have really been a dirty SOB. A bunch of the point guards on TNT open court have brought him up as the hardest guy to play against and commented on all his dirty tricks.

Finger pokes
Pulling the shorts
Tugging jerseys
Knuckle jabs to the ribs and thighs.
