Corporate ticket sales as well, can't discount that. I'm curious to see how much of the Knicks season ticket sales are due to corporate purchases...yall have been garbage for so long it's really hard to imagine people paying hundreds of dollars to watch the Knicks get blown out of the gym when they can do it from the comfort of their own home.

You know damn well Knicks fans will pay hundreds of dollars to see us get our asses handed to us. It's what makes us one of the strongest fanbases in the league.

That probably explains why you guys keep getting the short end of the stick then. Dolan knows you'll keep coming back for more abuse so he'll keep trotting out garbage teams every year.

i know this hard to believe but actual fans still show up no matter what, believe it or not.

i know it's hard since the nets have been playing on the road 82 games a year since moving to brooklyn.

Got to admit this is true. Knicks put butts in the seats and the arena is typically pretty loud too not just suits. It's quite impressive but again there's over 1.6 M in Manhattan alone and over 8M in NYC total. They've been the only show in town for so long it just kind of happens naturally.

Nets will carve their little piece and their sales will no longer be bottom of the league. They'll never surpass the Knicks at least not for 30, 40, 50 years if ever. It's take a full generation to even move the needle but if they take the small piece of the huge pie like the Mets and Jets do from the Yanks and Giants they'll be fine.

I think they'll be enough Nets fans to keep their home court when the Knicks are in town. No more 60/40 splits with majority Knicks fans like in the past. Maybe they can reverse it or make it closer to 70/30 Nets fans but the Knicks fans are die hards. How else could you live though the misery, I know personally as a die hard Jets fan.

the nets are not the mets or the jets. the mets were created because the dodgers moved to la, and they didn't want to become yankee fans.

the jets/giants don't have a rivalry, it doesn't exist. they rarely play each other.

the nets are more close to the buffalo bills/new jersey devils.

Whatever you say.

Not even sure how the Mets were created or the rivalry between the Jets/Giants has anything to do with what piece of NY the Nets can grab. Totally irrelevant statement.

Yeah, that's cool, congratulations guys. That really helped you out this summer

But for a fanbase that constantly keeps bragging about attendance, 18th in the league isn't a good look.

It's you that's bringing this up right now

Did so much for you guys that you're still talking about the Knicks while your injured star player is arguing with Knicks fans on Twitter after taking time to talk about them

Average and overall attendance have the Knicks at the top half of the league. Nets couldn't even get out the bottom 3rd and even going by percentage, are still well below the Knicks.
What the **** are you talking about?

It's ALWAYS a Knicks fan bringing up attendance in any Nets related thread here, because that's the only point you guys can cling to, and it's honestly sad

MSG has higher capacity than other many arenas in the league, hence why it doesn't make any sense to compare by raw attendance. And yeah Nets couldn't get out of bottom 3rd, but guess what, I'm not bragging the Nets attendance, unlike you guys bragging about 18th in the league attendance

They know their management and their on court product is complete garbage compared to what Marks and Kenny have put together so it's literally all they can talk about.

Do you think that KD likes talking about the Knicks? Watch the Hot 97 interview or most of the media interviews. The Hot 97 host admitted that he loves seeing the Knicks in misery, and kept asking questions to get KD to say something negative about the Knicks. KD didn't really even say anything, only stated a reasonable point of view which is what most NBA fans in the league would agree with. Newer generations have no reason to care about the Knicks. They don't care about the history of MSG, or your lack of championship success since the 70s, or the likes of Ntilikina, Trier, etc. on your roster. That's the truth.

Then after KD said that on Hot 97, he got bunch of angry Knicks fans saying hateful **** to him, and he's responding. I don't see the problem with that. You guys are riled up for no good reason

The funny thing is... I keep hearing all these comments about "well why do Knick fans keep bringing up attendance and jerseys and televised games and the like? Is that all they care about?"

The whole point of this thread and all the comments about taking over New York... all this nonsense that we keep seeing thread after thread about is entirely about popularity. Are the Knicks "cool" or not. If the question is who is the better team right now then, healthy, the good money would be on the Nets. If the question is who has the better front office, the Knicks are in a better place than they have been in awhile but Marks has accomplished something and you give them the nod.

But those aren't the questions at hand and mid-thread "oopsies" there go the goalposts. Let's put them back where we started. Durant spoke of who is "cooler." Every day we hear the baloney coming from the Nets PR staff and players trolling the Knicks or talking about taking over New York or whatever. And in a discussion about popularity, arguments discussing and measuring popularity are quite relevant. And the Nets still ain't it cause if they were all these dogs wouldn't need to bark

Why can't any of this be in good fun? Seriously dude, Net fans had to deal with Knick fans talking **** on here about us for months, laughing at the idea that anyone would consider the Nets, a playoff team, over the Knicks, one of the worst franchises in the league for the last twenty years.

Then all of a sudden, reality sets in and you guys start getting mad about it. I hate to say it but this is a case of you can dish it out but you can't take it.

Because there's nothing to brag about with their attendance

And the Knicks live rent free in Nets fans heads and apparently KD's as well

Even if we go just based off percentage, over the past 10 years the Knicks range between 96% - 100% in that span. Very few teams are touching those numbers.

In the mid-2000s Dolan said verbatim that winning wasn't "integral to the strategy" at that point in time. I think they've gotten away from that a bit in that they've recouped their first round picks in recent years and gotten a bit more discretionary about who they throw longer term money towards. The analytics NBA requires a team that is run with a certain degree of basketball competence over flair. But the problem is that every team is doing that now just just being competent won't cut it. There's nary a Billy King or Isiah for the Ainges and John Paxsons of the world to fleece.

I was pretty happy that they didn't go all in on guys like Tobias Harris or Middleton or whoever in lieu of Durant. There was a point not that long ago when they would have.

See this is what I don't get you are mad at the Nets and their PR staff for pushing back on the Knicks and trying to take a piece of NY. IT'S THEIR FREAKING JOB!!!

Get off your high horse for sec and realize that they are in the business to make money and grow the brand and to do that you have to go at the company standing in your way. Companies spend millions of dollars to do just that. Don't get your panties in a bunch when it happens.

I got to say I don't see too many fans saying the Nets are taking over NY other then on the court. I'd be the first one to call out a fellow Nets fan who thinks the Nets will have more fans and be on the back page of the papers. It's just not realistic but to get mad when a rival PR team is trying to promote their team and leave a footprint on the NY market you need to grow up this is the real world. If you truly thought the Nets were this spec on the bottom of you shoe then you wouldn't be so worked up about it. The fact that this thread is littered with posts from Knicks fans speaks to the reality that the Nets are relevant despite the claims of Knicks posters.

If you don't want to be the butt of the joke anymore you need to win games simple as that. Bad teams get mocked and put down it is what it is.

Every day we hear the baloney coming from the Nets PR staff and players trolling the Knicks or talking about taking over New York or whatever. And in a discussion about popularity, arguments discussing and measuring popularity are quite relevant. And the Nets still ain't it cause if they were all these dogs wouldn't need to bark

With that, take another won offseason and your blueprint and sit back and enjoy all the greatness that unfolds. Whatever happens, rest assured, I'm quite sure you all deserve it.

I'm truly sorry that you didn't enjoy my post.

I enjoy the back and forth, no worries
