If you could pick between 5 pg , sg , sf, pf, or centres to be the starting five of your team, which position would it be and what players?

I’d pick 5 SF’s.

Kobe MJ LBJ KD Tmac. Yes I know Kobe and mj played SG but they def played SF as well.

You know one of these weird scenario threads is not going to go well when the OP can't even follow his own rules.

I'd go with 5 SFs as well:
Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Lebron, Duncan and Kareem. Yes, I know only one of them played small forward, but I'm sure any one of them could have played small forward for a little while.

I would also go small forward as you could use Bron at PG, someone like PG/Kawhi at SG literally any SF (say KD) at SF, Bird at PF, Giannis at C.

Tmac played 11 seasons at SG vs 6 at SF. So I'd call him more of a SG too.

So, you create a thread, asking people to pick a starting 5 by position, you choose SF, and only choose 2 SF's.

sf's are more versatile in all aspects of the game. furthermore, there's quite a loose interpretation of "sf". lebron is often listed as sf. bird...kd. it's simply not fair

no one ever wins with point guards. history shows this.

centers are interesting if all the centers are giannis clones. or howz about kareem, giannis, wilt, sampson, and davis. with hakeem, walton, and KAT off the bench

If Jordan and Kobe count as SFs,LeBron and KD count as PFs as well-even moreso actually,cause they have played PFs by design in small ball lineups.

SF is the easiest choice.

Putting together an all center or all point guard line-up would be challenging and interesting.

PG: Hakeem Olajuwon
SG: Kareem Abdul Jabbar
SF: Wilt Chamberlain
PF: Bill Russell
C: Shaquille O’Neal

Also depends if you consider Duncan or AD centers.

Kobe was not a SF. I don't care if he played SF here and there, he wasn't anywhere close to being a SF. The dude is like 6'4 1/2 and you're putting him in there with guys 6'8 and 6'10.

D.Wade also played SF every now and then even at his tiny size, but who in the world would choose him after saying "I pick 5 SF's"?

If you're picking 5 Small Forwards then pick 5 Small Forwards.

PG might be the best. Huge amount of variation among point guards in terms of size and weight - certainly more than in any other position.

Kobe and MJ played at SF when they were old and broken down and could no longer guard anybody. They played a vast majority of their careers at SG.
