People forget before joining 3 other all stars in GS, durant was choking games in big moments like it was common place. IE game 6 in OKC, Game 7 youre supposed to shoot the ball more overall sure he had an efficent game but it wasnt all dominating ala Kobes game against the suns where he refused to shoot in 06. KD against the spurs in 2014 again choking. 2013 against the grizzlies russ gets injured a series before that and he struggles mightily without him. KD isnt the epitome of "clutch". It hides a lot when you play with 3 other all stars overall.

In Game 1, Kobe made 22 points but shot 7/21 (33%) from the field. Never mind that Kobe had an abysmal 44.9 TS%.

For comparison, Lamar Odom made 21 points but shot 8/15 (53%) from the field and had a 57 TS%.

The Lakers would have actually swept Phoenix Suns if they won Game 1 of that series.

You understand that having Smush ( and Walton and Kwame...) , allows the opponent's defense to focus on him ? Give Kobe Westbrook , Adams, Ibaka, Kanter, and they have to guard them and allow Kobe to dominate, like he did with Shaq and Gasol. And you are talking to a guy who love Durant's game ...

I know Kobe had a worse surrounding cast, but Durant also had a more difficult opponent. Additionally, the quote I was responding to indicated that Kobe wouldn't "defer to Russ" the way KD did, yet Kobe deferred in a game 7 (16 total shots) with that very same worse team the Lakers had that you referred to. Deferring in Kobe's situation is worse than what KD did in game of that series.

Easily KD. He's a better shot maker than Kobe even in a vacuum, and with his height advantage he has a much easier time finding good looks than Kobe would.

KD easily. More efficient, more difficult to guard, a far better shooter, and a mismatch in every scenario. Kobe has horrific elimination game stats anyway, so I would take my chances with KD.

KD has only had played in one game 7 (lost to warriors in 2016) and he was good.

So I don’t have a lot of evidence to say one or the other except KD had one better game 7.
