Honestly not terrible, dont understand the outrage.

But can someone explain the origin of that font? I know its LA thing, but what thing exactly? ANd man I loved San Andreas, used to play that 24/7

That's a variation of the blackletter,the "Old English" font.

if I was from LA id cop as soon as they were available. olde English jerseys for an L.A. team just works. it's okay if you don't get it, but that doesn't mean it's not a homerun.

I've seen 2 posts like this. Please elaborate for the rest of RealGM what this jersey means. Because when I see Old English font, i associate it to gang culture.

I don't see anything wrong with them.

They just should have used the same font on the numbers.

As aside it's quite obvious the marketing angle the Clips are trying to take and try to divide LA into the "Hollywood" crowd which would obv be the Lakers and the "Real LA"/the streets which would be them. Considering they keep hosting different events in various under privileged communities/ghettos. I guess the idea is to try and play the angle of what the Raiders once did when they appealed more as an "urban" brand vs the glamor & glitz of the Lakers.

Still gonna be a tough sell because Lakers have pretty much dominated both markets but I see the route they're trying to go since they can't become the flashy big name in LA. Might as well see if they can connect with another segment that feels equally overlooked. I'll be rooting for Kawhi (in particular) and the Clips to win the battle of LA but LeBron might still be too strong at least for one more season.

They collaborated with a very popular LA area tattoo artist. That artist obviously also designed the GTA San Andreas logo lol

That’s really it the old English style of writing in LA is just usually used by guys that are gang related or want to be tough/cool whatever. LA Times uses it but for a sports jersey the clippers were clearly going for a urban connection with the style.

Customized names and Paul George 13 jerseys should sell high. Even as a fan I wouldn’t be surprised if someone created a incident from wearing the jersey trying to act tough
