Kings Offer Buddy Hield 4-yr/$92M Contract Extension; He Wants 4-yr/$110M

Post#1 » by BVB24 » Wed Oct 16, 2019 7:56 pm

The Sacramento Kings have offered Buddy Hield a four-year, $90 million contract extension, sources tell Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports.

Hield is seeking a four-year deal worth $110 million.

Hield is prepared to play out the season and test restricted free agency if the Kings don't move off their offer. For the sake of comparison, Harrison Barnes signed a four-year, $85 million deal this past offseason with the Kings.

I think he passes on the offer. He's probably worth 4/100, so we'll see if they meet half way.

OP - He'll be a RFA, next summer not a UFA if he doesn't sign.

He should take it. Isn't he like 31 years old already?

I wonder if players are not concerned at all of a potential drop in salary cap next season (depends on how the revenue from China shakes out).

If it drops, Buddy may regret not taking the extension.

I usually bet on the greed and stupidity of the players. And I rarely get disappointed. So no, he won't (probably) sign it.

I wonder if Nerlens Noel has any advice for these guys who aren’t franchise players betting on themselves.

I think that's low for Hield he's the 3rd or 4th best shooter in the league behind Klay, Steph and KD depending how you rank Hield vs KD.

I think 4 years at $105 is more close, Kings shouldn't be cheap or else they might lose Hield for nothing.

Yeah sac screwed up there cap structure, how can you Hield only 2 more million than barnes. Thats insulting. Honestly 110m is a steal because some dumb team will throw 130 at him. Probably the knicks.

He's about to turn 27. No reason to take that offer when Barnes just got 4/85 and Murray got 5/170. A nice compromise would be 4/100.

What does that have to do with anything? He isnt a defender or playmaker, 25m per should be his ceiling, he is a good player but doesnt offer anything outside shooting

Im sure there are some teams willing to pay Hield 4/110. So if he doesn't sign the extension, does Vlade flip him? You can go a couple different routes. They can flip him for a young guard and a pick, for example Luke Kennard and a FRP. See if they can plug Luke in the starting lineup and keep Bogdan off the bench. Or if that doesn't work out, Luke coming off the bench. Detroit gets a legit starting SG finally. Or they can swap him for one of the bigs that the Pels have, or a big from Orlando or OKC.

Three point shooting is arguably the most desired thing in this new NBA/ Hield does that at a elite level look at the stats I get Hield is a negative on defense but put him with a good defender and it's not that bad.

I think there will be quite a few teams that are on the cusp of being an upper tier team that would love to add Hield at $25 million a year

How is the situation comparable? Hield is a much more established player compared to what Noel was at that point after the season he had last year. You are also talking about a lights out shooter compared to a defensive center.

Hield would be a hot commodity if he hit free agency.

I get that shooting is very important, but is it really the best idea to give Buddy $100 million? Especially since you have no chance to sign Bogdan with your max offer, and you know he's gonna be a restricted FA as well? Then again, it's a very weak FA class this year, so maybe they are thinking these two will field amazing offers.

While I agree the two players are different type players. But Noel turned down $70 million to bet on himself and really regretted it afterwards. More so a cautionary tale.

Look at Demarcus Cousins. I bet he regrets not signing the extension before he got shipped to NOP.

Buddy is more important to their success than Bogdanovic.
