I'll remember Luol Deng as a member of the Derrick Rose led Chicago Bulls, that could never get past the Miami Heat. Amazing player, I wish he got a ring.

Not his fault, but Jim Buss probably was just drunk making this contract, same with that Mozgov contract.

This is the day he retired.

Much love for Loul Deng! Great grinder on the floor, played the game the right way, one of my favorites!

Wasn't Luol Deng just a scrub who got carried by Prime Derrick Rose?

I’m going to assume that you are a child, so I won’t be mean to you. Deng only played 4 of his 14 years with Rose, put up better numbers before he played with rose, and made the all star team the year rose missed with his knee injury.

So, no.

He was a two time all-star.

He was almost traded for Kobe Bryant at one point.

I like Deng a lot. He seems like a nice dude and is really interested in growing the game in Africa. I admit it’s a bit bittersweet to see him retire a Bull because them salary dumping him basically ended my tenure as a fan of the team. Good player though, good career, and he will have exciting things on the horizon.

If the Lakers hadn't bought him out could they possibly have traded Deng and Kuzma for Igoudala.

Or Deng for Dion Waiters or James Johnson?

Sorry but to me that's such a meaningless gesture.

Not hating on the Bulls for doing it but it's not like Deng will be some storied legend of the Bulls franchise. Should have just given him a tribute vid when he was riding the pine the half a decade at best n keep it moving.

As long as it's not a meaningless gesture to the person involved, more power to him.

That was a wild off-season. I remember being amazed that some players received the contracts they did.

Is it prorated? If so, the Lakers could get a rebate on their 5 mil outlay for the season

Yup it's crazy that hes still on the lakers books.

I hope we retire his number.
And with this, I think Chandler is the last of active Baby Bulls.

Chandler pre-dates those Baby Bulls.

Chandler is part of the OG baby bulls. The one with Marcus Fizer, Curry, Artest, Crawford, Hassell.

Deng & Iggy used to get compared quite a bit during their earlier years. Interesting to see how both of their careers turned out.

or to the Bulls. Sometimes a lot of posters forget these are actual human beings. By almost all accounts, Luol Deng is a terrific human being who probably was viewed very highly by the Bulls organization and clearly his time there meant enough to him to want to bother with this.

No idea why so many posters here think only superstars who bring titles should matter to franchises.
