Great post.

As well as LeBron has played for the Lakers this season Giannis has played even better for Milwaukee. After the first few games Towns and Kawhi were hanging in there but Towns has come back down to Earth [Still a great shot at all-nba 2nd/3rd] and Kawhi is missing games.

I think a lot of it has to do with his success in the playoffs before those discussions can honestly start. Beating up Blake's Pistons and kyrie's Celtics is hardly much of a resume builder...

I am also basing my opinion on his game as it has been progressing each season and I am seeing some Lebron level passing going on with Giannis of late which I did not expect at this point in his career

Still needs to work on the accuracy of his passes. Some great reads, angles etc but he often makes passes significantly out of the shooter's pocket.

Bruno Caboclo would be an all star if he played under Giannis "rules".

it won't be unananymous. Players like Lebron and Kawhi are too good not to have at least one person want to give them a vote. The only exception is if the Bucks win 70+ games which doesn't look like it's going to happen.

Again... The main hindrance for Giannis would be team performance/record

Team record will be fine especially with the sixers struggling lately. Bucks had the toughest schedule so far.

Giannis is due for an uptick in shooting efficiency once his high volume FT shooting progresses from its current 63% (career low) to his standard 75%. 30/13/7 on an amazing 65% TS is sustainable for him. Breaking the All Time record for PER, WinShares, BPM and VORP all are in play in that scenario as well. Oh, and he's one of the leagues best, most versatile defenders. Even though I'm the champion of "it's too early to really dissect these things until December", what he's doing just seems like a natural extension of last season. Between the narrative and play, I've seen enough that I'm going to the book and placing a good bet on him at 4:1 today. I think he'll be 2:1 in 3 weeks and even money in 2 months.

Yeah, they've played tough comp and a lot on the road (6 of 9 so far, and 10 of 14 to start the year). After that things get much easier for them. As is they're tops in the East and #2 overall in net rating.

Him putting up that statline every night still isn't enough to win MVP. And he hasn't been doing it every night.

Right now Lebron and Giannis are the stand outs

I really doubt it. Bucks are #1 in SRS and #2 in Net Rating in the NBA. Their schedule has been pretty tough, and in two of their losses they were up by like 25.

I doubt this is going to end up being close. Barring injury, Giannis is going to have the stats and the wins and he'll do it without a second star.

Yeah, I agree. Edge to Giannis because his stats are more absurd and he doesn't have another superstar. But if the Lakers win like 60 games and the Bucks stay on pace for 55 wins then I think it goes to LeBron. That's a lot of projecting though

Pretty neat that the Bucks are #1 in SRS and #2 in point differential while the Lakers are #2 in SRS and #1 in point differential. Too bad the Bucks didn't put up a good offensive performance last night because then it also would've been #1 offense vs #1 defense

So say the season plays out like it is now and giannis clearly has the best production but lebron is still pretty great in his own right. How many extra wins would the lakers have to get for lebron to win it? Between 5-10 more?

I don’t think there is any way LBJ wins the MVP when there is someone averaging 26/10 on his team.

I'd add in Kawhi also if his sits outs are relatively low over the course of the season. So long as he plays like 75+ games he'll be right there. I think its pretty much between those three though Doncic could possibly make a run at it as well if the Mavs surge and the above three slip up.

I see it more as a slight hindrance than a definite roadblock to him winning it. LeBron is going to get a lot of credit if the Lakers win 60+ games this year.
