Heartbreaking but the strength Vanessa has to speak today is incredible.

Maybe it's just me, but my skin crawled when I heard Pelinka speak.

With MJ and Shaq speechs for this I'm guessing Phil will be the one inducting him into the HOF.

This is one of those thoughts you keep to yourself unless you dont care about looking like a complete POS. Eulogizing someone you love is the hardest things person ever has to do, let alone in front of millions of people.

Regardless of the hyperbole he speaks with, he was obviously one of Kobe's dearest friends and had a relationship with him that was about much more than basketball.

That's how I felt, you don't have to agree, nor does anyone else.

There are plenty of instances in which people speak on sensitive matters which don't resonate with me, and again, that's just my feelings on the matter.

What do you mean ? I read his article on the Lakers site and it seemed odd as it was too matter of fact for a "best friend". I only listened to a small part of his speech.

I really don't know what it was, but it just didn't sit well with me.

It's obvious that those two had a very close relationship, that is undeniable, but perhaps it was as you said, it seemed void of emotions and too matter of fact.

Vanessas speech destroyed me, I had to pause it multiple times because it actually hurt to watch and listen to.

I had taken edibles about an hour before, and they make me infinitely more emotional, was a bad combination man lol.

I get it, Kobe had a massive influence on so many people's lives, mine included, and i wish the Bryant family nothing but the best going forward and in dealing with this tragedy. But something about these types of memorials just gives off a weird emotional masturbation type of vibe to me.

People coming together to listen to the same 15 minute pre-written paraphrased speeches about how Kobe was an unmatched competitor and his advice to how never give up and pursue your goals in life, and how Gigi would have simultaneously been the best WNBA player and mother of all-time...

I guess people need events like this to keep a sense of humanity/unity among themselves or something. It's hardwired in our human nature, except now it's amplified to an unreal degree, and i'm listening to some female college basketball player talking about how Kobe was sending her #BEASTMODE and flex emoji texts after she posted a triple double in her game.

Why did you feel compelled to watch the memorial?

That's cool, just making a suggestion that you might want to keep those thoughts to yourself if you dont want to look like a complete dick.

Jordan seemed really really sad.

On the other side, although for sure is still hurting I thought Jerry West looked more composed than on the first days after the accident.

I didn't feel compelled to do anything. I just tuned in for a couple of minutes, curious to what's going on, and then left to do other things.

It's just a thought that crept into my mind. One of the weird things us humans do, i guess.

Poor taste to do it today

How do you know it was filed today? It was just reported today.

The wrongful death lawsuit filed by Vanessa Bryant in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday said the pilot was careless and negligent by flying in cloudy conditions Jan. 26 and should have aborted the flight that killed all nine people aboard.

it was today, and very poor taste

Just saw this on Twitter. Wonder if she’s doing this cause she anticipates the other families to sue her/Kobe’s estate and needs to protect herself? Seems kind of pointless otherwise - pilot is dead, and I’d assume her net worth far exceeds all the parties she’s suing?

I wonder whether she and / or a collective suit on behalf of all the families who lost loved ones on the flight can also sue the FAA? They're the ones who refused to make instrumentation mandatory. It was made clear at the initial press conference that refusal to do so was a problem for the NTSA.

This tragedy is big enough to hopefully make some concrete changes and save lives.

I really hope MJ is a speaker again for Kobe’s HoF speech. He absolutely killed it today got the laughs and the tears. Then there’s Shaq with the perfect comic relief. Sad that Phil and Pau didn’t speak, but I’m sure it’s a difficult on them, so I understand.
